I just finished my first level 4 mission.

EVE-Survival: The Damsel In Distress, Level 4

So right at the end some guy shows up and grabs the "damsel" loot as I blow up the structure, then flies away. He turned red so I shot at him.

After he left I flew back to the station. Now he's messaging me, telling me to come back to the mission and he'll give me the damsel. I have no idea how flags work for PvP in this game, I'm just assuming he's going to try and blow me up.

I can't finish this mission anymore, can I? Or is there some way to reset it?
 
I was trying to think of a way to get his shit back without getting into a fight. I was thinking either I would warp to the can in a Sacrilege and grab it or go in a Cov Ops and ninja it back for him. He had to go though so I couldn't do either. :(
 
Wasn't a big deal, really. Lost a bunch of standing, didn't get the mission reward. The bounties/loot/salvage were each individually more than I would have made altogether on a level 3.

I've found harder ways to learn lessons in Eve before.
