it didn't go unnoticed that the main ship of the series is nowhere to be seen. considering how ****ing ugly it is compared to the ones shown in these 2 episodes, i understand why. don't want to scare off the potential viewers before they can get in the metrics now do they.

Does CBS really think people are going to pay for a subscription for one show?

Is the main character of Discovery supposed to be hateful, evil, utterly unlikable, and completely opposed to every ideal Starfleet stands for?

She's terrible as a character.

I think if I were going to make a modern Star Trek show, I would just do Star Fleet Academy and literally rip off the plot of Space Camp.

Think I'll wait before watching this one. Season one of any new Trek is pretty rough. That said I did end up watching Enterprise this year from front to back. I mostly enjoyed it even though it had some serious camp going on with some of the episodes.

im withholding my judgement til ep 3
1&2 were presented almost like a prequel or prologue rather than a part of the 'discovery' crew experience
i think a lot of shows would have shown that stuff in a series of flashbacks or like, a later episode down the line that clears it up
guessing the rest of the series will feel a bit different

I'm going to assume that the USS Discovery wasn't mentioned because it doesn't exist yet. Episode 3 will probably start with "1 year later..."
The shows production values are pretty high, which means they had money to work with... but the amount of spin you have to put on the re-imagined views of what Star Trek is... that's hard to swallow. Not surprisingly, people who may not have considered themselves Star Trek fans or watched previous series and movies tend to have a more favorable opinion of the show ... but, to a Star Trek fan, it's like someone presenting Tribes 1 veterans with a sequel, and that sequel turns out to be Tribes:Vengeance. Could be a decent game? Sure, but is it Tribes?

Pretty much how I've grown to feel since the premiere. Think we're sorta meant to hate Michael, and she'll redeem herself overtime.
