was a frustrating week fishing but mostly my own fault. fishing off the dock when i hook up a good sized catfish. 5-6lb or so. got it to the dock and asked a kid who was about 10 to hand me my net. well he starts trying to net the fish for me. being the nice guy that i am i figure what the hell ill let him get it. he misses the fish on the first go and it dives so i have to let it run and get it back. he then almost tangles my line into the net on the 2nd go. same thing again. 3rd time he hits the fish in the head with the side of the net and it shakes the hook and i loose it
.
well lesson learned.. i am no longer letting any random kids help me land a fish.
another morning i show up to the dock and its absolutely boiling all around with large splashes. i was already set up for drop shot so i cast out and hook up on first cast... it feels like a good size fish... then it breached the water did a barrel roll and shook my hook mid air. he looked to be a 4-5lb bass. SOAB that woulda been the biggest bass i have caught. Ohh well at least i got to see it.
im sure i will have many more "big fish that got away" storys. but anyhow caught a lot of guys like this....
and my daughter caught her first fish ever... a 1lb catfish.
