An updated code.lasthope.cs

cool to hear that andrew is in the boat, sounds awesome... im totally looking forward to it.

nofix: stop being a dick, its pathetic. you are a wannabe who thinks he is THE one, you know nothing.
EDIT:
but i guess it would be very bad if wsfix in its current form would be not allowed in shithole, so feel free to make a "less" crappier version . here is how it works: it patches 0x5D2448 which is Tribes' fullscreen ChangeDisplaySettings();. wsfix updates the pDevMode struct and the stack with the widescreen resolution. it was the the first idea that i had and it worked... so there was no need to update it.
something you could have found out in like 2 minutes with ollydbg *cough*

hey mj props for the wsfix
it's a bit choppy for me (amd 3800+x2 and an x800xl) and there is a 'hole" between 140 and 150 FOV when I wheel up and down so I don't use it

imho we don't need a pissing contest between you and nofix
he is an opinionated motherfucker but that's just how it goes
He's made major contributions to the game regarding hosting and OS compatibility.

When NoFiX stopped pushing out bypasses you seem to have attempted to take up the slack. I really don't know your Tribes "history" but for me it's the ONLY game I play. I enjoy just about every aspect of it from playing to coding. I continue to play, code, and host numerous servers. How about you stop trying to prove yourself? You've done some useful things. Pushing the boundaries in a 10 year old game to attempt to impress anyone is bordering on pathetic. Dig through OllyDbg and continue to enhance, not inhibit.

An updated version of our code.lasthope.cs is available now at:

http://t1m1.pu.net/lasthope2009.zip

This version is in reponse to the leak of an early emjay interpolate hack
(mj-terp). It is a server side only script.

This episode was confusing and hard to deal with in many ways.

"mj-terp" fails to inject on some configurations. Some users stepped forward
to admit guilt and offer assistance. They did, in fact, have the hack. My
inability to detect it when they insisted that they were running it was quite
frustrating. As it turns out they were not actually running it but still
felt THE THRILL and then later THE GUILT.

"mj-terp" repeatedly injects on some configurations. The peeps that have this
problem will see their systems become increasingly slower as the repeated
injections gradually consume all system resources - until THE BEWM!!!

"mj-terp" does not patch all necessary locations so there are a couple spots
where the cheat doesn't work anyway even if it is injected properly.

Since the January 2008 leak of the NoFiX bypass he has not released another
version. He did keep working on it but nobody else failed "Ultimate Test" so
its a good bet he has not distributed in a long while. The "Ultimate Test"
detects all NoFiX bypasses through the end of February 2009 (when emjay
figured out what I was doing and blabbed it).

While the loss of "Ultimate Test" was a tragedy I am optimistic that I can
continue to detect the bypass. I was troubled in early 2008 that I would run
out of bullets but this past summer I made discoveries which convince me that
NoFiX will have to start from scratch and do a total redesign in order to
reach undetectability.

Emjay has been working on an improved hack that I was tracking with a test
I call "Andrew's Gift". Emjay and ib failed "Andrew's Gift" for several weeks
but nobody else did so its likely that only the old interpolate hack has
leaked and new emjay didn't. Maybe I can take another break.

lasthope2009 has nothing to do with the upcoming revival of Tribes by Garage
Games and their 1.40 release. It was driven solely by the leak of a cheat
which is being actively used on servers today. Do not confuse lasthope2009
(which is just a server side script) with what Garage Games is doing.

Good luck, bugs_. Keep in mind prior to the current build ( 2/09 ), the last build was ( 3/08 ). I hadn't touched the logs or the bypass in almost a year's time.

I get the feeling you want me to release the current build? Not like it will have any relevance within the next couple weeks.

Of course it will have relevance. I don't see community hosted masters disappearing any time soon nor do I see the majority of mods migrating to the new platform. Most people hosting are using ready made installs and are clueless about code changes. I'd like to see the new masters function much like the old showing 1.0 thru 1.40 versions. Some mods will not transition. I will do whatever I can to make my servers compatible but that process is yet to be determined. I am confident that I'll make the transition but I'm hesitant to think that it will be easy or flawless.

Basically, we might get an increased player base provided that the new master accepts legacy servers. If that does not happen I predict a major fragmentation in the player base.

So yea, it does matter and I really don't see major changes taking place in either weeks or months.

Not trying to egg you on. Don't think I can scare you off.

We all have our ruts that we fall into. I am sure other people expect you to
be distributing and are surprised to learn you might not have.

Obviously the old rules and old ruts are now shattered while we wait for the
new.

Let's see, when was the last time you detected anything on my end?

Here is the last UT fail:

2009-02-26 18:08 LH extra nofixette UT 369295589

This next one I mentioned to you because I was chasing emjay and not you. "emjay dll6"
is the 0x61CD95 check. If I remember right emjay even suggested it. I didn't have too
much success with that so I will probably dump it.

2009-03-01 21:13 LH extra nofixette emjay dll6 745734830

I haven't tried anything else lately - I will wait for things to settle down first.

I apologize bugs_. You've done more for the active playing community than anyone when it comes to having a fair playing field. You deserve credit for it. The original post I was responding to seemed to be calling me out or something.

I did redesign the bypass. It needed it. I think, at least for now, it's undetectable.

Emjay has been working on an improved hack that I was tracking with a test
I call "Andrew's Gift". Emjay and ib failed "Andrew's Gift" for several weeks
but nobody else did so its likely that only the old interpolate hack has
leaked and new emjay didn't. Maybe I can take another break.

looks like ib really didnt give out newhope, that ip enabler is really no threat at all. good job bugs. over n out

Well it is status quo ante bellum. There are bypasses but they are not out. Once
again they are closely held by the authors and potentially tracked.

Now we wait for the disruptive event - the release of 1.40. As unhelpful joked with
me last night - how are these peeps going to explain suddenly sucking when 1.40
comes out? (1.40 will break a lot of software add-ons to Tribes - both good and evil).

Does interpolate make the transition? Andrew's involvement would lead me to believe it probably won't, but who knows. With an official backing, it would seem more appropriate to redefine chaingun properties - ( to fit the billing of modern networking standards ) than to remove a setting many people seem to want or need.
