where do you get fire resistant stuff from?

Drops or Thorium Brotherhood. I think caster items come from hydraxian warlords, but I could be wrong.

after doing the Duke Hydraxis questlines you get a ring wiith +15 fire res and stats for casters or melee depending on which ring you choose

sadly i've never heard of hydraxian warlords... i'm a warrior so i'm looking for melee stuff

For a warrior, it would mostly be dark iron gear, which is crafted with faction with the thorium brotherhood. Not sure of the items or what levels of faction youd need though.There are probably also drops of just straight FR gear for warriors from strath. I got a 20 FR leather belt off one of the tower bosses. Ive seen other types drop as well.

Then there is always those librams of resileance (sp?) that give +20 FR to any head/leg item (i think its those).
