So, I know this guy.

He was honorably discharged from the army several years ago with 100% disability, from a car accident he suffered while drunk. I honestly don't know how the **** he managed that. But he suffered a traumatic brain injury, which severely effected his short term memory. He has a medical prescription for marijuana.

He sits around all day in his apartment. He can't drive, because of his DUI conviction. He doesn't drink because he's an alcoholic and has to keep off the sauce. So, he sits in his apartment, stoned, and bored.

I asked him if he's so bored, why doesn't he get out and find a job. Of course, his answer was, he didn't want to lose his 100% divisibility.

So, he wants to keep his disability, but complains about how bored he is. For fun, he walks to the nearest pot store a block away and hangs out there with his stoner buddies. Or he walks his dog. His dog is very fit.

So, I am not sure what to tell the guy, and I decided for ****s and giggles to query the denizens of TW for what they have to say about it.

oh, and ::

believe it or not but that grass is always greener on the other side

i have known people who were perpetually unemployed, or who retired early, who said they envied me for working so many days a week and being able to have so much first hand personal interaction while they sat at home bored and without purpose

oh how lucky people who work all day have it they would say.....hopefully at 5 am when you are stuck in traffic and still have another hours commute to go

if i remember correctly didn't tehvul recently complain about this same thing?

that he envies people who work all day while he is forced to stay at home unemployed.......

i used to think that people could fill their own day with meaningful tasks and or productive activities to pass the time......that retirement was a reward for a life of hard work

now i am not so sure

i think she might have been on to something with this

more bad life choices a person makes

the more they can complain about how bad they want to work

but nobody employing them

as they sit at home creating more self destruction all day

............

that might be the best hidden secret to american prosperity today

No, I do not know supertrap. Neither in person, or biblical sense.

I've asked him, well, what do you want to do? I mean, as friends, even though we're about 20 years apart in age. Want to go bowling? No. Want to see a movie? No. Play video games? No. I did suggest a taking up a hobby, but nothing interests him. It's like he expects his friends to entertain him, like we're a bunch of circus clowns or something, placed on this earth to amuse him. He never makes an effort to ask any of us "hey, let's go out and do 'X'". And when I've sat with him and tried to have a conversation, all he wants to talk about is weed. A subject I have zero interest in.

I have never met someone with so little motivation to better themselves.

Idk maybe he has depression because he rolled his whip while wasted and ****ed his life up

One of the key warning signs is a lack of interest in things you used to enjoy

Also, I know quite a few retired people that are busier now than when they worked. If your sole motivation is to sit at home waiting to die, then that's on you. Personally, when I retire I plan on doing a ****load of travelling, even if it's just me and my Harley taking off with no plan on where I'm going.
