i agree with the gear + practice for taking down ragnaros.
i remember how we used to spent all day before attempting to kill onyxia and only ever get to like 28% for a long time, after the first kill and learning and figuring out how to smoothin the phases and get more prepared it became much much easier, i think now its pretty much gonna become a trivial event for epics every time the timer is reset.
MC will always be a pain the first times thru but it gets easier.
