gold dupe

Anyone know how the gold/item dupe works? I know there's one out there otherwise there wouldn't be 100 auctions on ebay for 40-100 million gold each. Would be nice to never have to farm again for repairs or building maintenance.

the only one i know that work is the use of server downtime and a thief with GM steal/peek.
