Hey guys,

Just got a new stainless steel set of cookware.

Tramontina 10 piece set from Walmart.

I know most of you guys may think everything from walmart equals shit, but when Cooks Illustrated said it was comparable to All Clad at a much lower price I was sold.

Looks great, quite heavy and a great upgrade from my previous collection of mishmosh pots and pans.

So what tips or tricks do you recommend to someone who's primarily used to teflon?

you CAN use metal in them... but it will still scratch it. some people care, some dont. i usually use silicone or plastic

i use brillo pads with the blue soap shit in them to scour

you can scour less often if you avoid leaving the pan on the heat with nothing in it for too long :)

I tried my hand at an omlette this morning. Did pretty well, had some sticking around the size of a quarter in the center. Other than that came out perfect.

SS is not for omlettes - if it's thin enough and you have enough lube then great - otherwise it's a great pain in the ass. get a non-stick for eggs.

oh and i read that article too - seems like a good buy. but not for omlettes. i stand by that.
