Electronic drum kit and electric piano into garageband?

I have a tascam us-144 audio interface and if has a midi in/out on the back of it. Can I use this to send midi signals from my electrim drum kit or piano into garage band? I can't figure it out for the life of me but i'm sure it's easy


Any ideas fellas?

Make sure garage band recognizes your shit being plugged in and knows what its supposed to do with the input.

well, it recognizes my audio interface (tascam us-144) but there doesnt seem to be any reaction when i plug the drum kit into the tascam us-144. The us-144 will have a flashing light when i hit pads on the kit but it doesnt seem to be sending any signal to the computer from there.

It shouldn't be very difficult. Make a MIDI track in Garageband, assign it a channel, record enable or monitor. Make sure your MIDI instrument is sending via the same channel.

Not a Mac guy, but in most software, you can select in the settings an inbound MIDI input.

I have no trouble using the microphone/guitar inputs on the interface. For some reason the audio interface (the us144) won't take my midi input and then send it out of the USB output it has. Garageband does not recognize it has being a MIDI input, only as a audio input.
