Need a Tribes OGL Historian

My memory is shitacular :(

If anyone can help I'm trying to figure out a comprehensive Tribes 1 OGL history...

basically I would like to know starting from the beginning who the first 'super team' was and move on from there...

from there any key important events... Happyflag, teams breaking up, scandles, etc.

perhaps it would be nice to set some of these records straight :shrug:

Here's a start: when I first started playing competitively teams like Western Alliance, COWS, Synergy, BMF, etc were the teams to beat.

BMF came before cows.

super teams went (in chronological order):
Western Alliance --> Imperial Elite --> S3 --> 5150

There were a lot of good teams but those are the only ones I'd consider "elite" or "super teams"
 
i actually came across the ogl site while googling my screen name the other day. they still have the same site design they had like 5 years ago when everyone jumped ship over there because of their 'nazi' admins

jislan got it right. COWS really didn't do much against the other teams mentioned, they beat WA once i believe but that's about it.

i feel it was more like BMF, WA, IE, than 5150... =S3= imo was always the "2nd Place" team, which is pretty amazing when you think they withstood two major eras of the game, one with IE winning all the games and the other with 5150. So for that I give them props... sorta.

especially when factoring =V= into the equation. they always were the 2nd Best team throughout most of t1 AND t2. that's pretty remarkable when you think about it (in retrospect)

the three major dynasty's on the OGL were WA, IE and 5150. they had huge long runs that didn't appear to have an end in sight.

in the early days though, i remember it was Synergy, Fallen/KBD, ELITE a little later, along with some other teams that were climbing up the ladder that you knew could game like z2, kZ, Longshot (which seemed to dissolve well before they should have), Team Fusion to a lesser extent. Also you had Battlezone dominating that weird planet league, with Shallah, Biz and all of those doods. I'd always keep an eye on what was going on there even though i didn't have a team playing in it.

I'd agree with WA, S3, and 5150. S3 was a long reigning superpower, but they never had the reign that any of the above did. Mainly because S3 had the pleasure of playing in IE's era.
 
POE could or did beat every team except s3, IE, and 5150. We never played IE in match play, but took a few maps in scrims agains them and that was it. They dropped before we ever got really good. S3 kicked our ass every time until the end when we started holding our own with them and then they dropped. 5150 started out being just good, but then brought it all together at some point and started beating the living shit out of us in scrims. Like with s3, when we got really good and started holding our own with them, they dropped. :(

That's more what I was basing my opinion on.
 
On Jislan's shameless self-promotion, Fallen was also the only team to beat IE during the height of their reign.

Edit: Wasn't POE the farm team for z2?
 
I guess a better way to say it would be those were the teams that I'd consider to be top tier teams. IE being 1A, 5150 and s3 being 1B, and WA being 1C. If that makes sense.
 
Fallen beat them before the height of their reign, they beat them before they played WA for the top rung. the IE/Fallen match (as i recall) was before IE had picked up the ELITE players and it coincided right around the time the whole server crashed. from what i remember, IE beating Fallen was admist WA's reign... WA was #1, the ladder reset, IE beat FAG for the #1 spot (or some team like that), then Fallen beat IE, then WA beat Fallen, and WA kept that rung for a little while longer until IE picked up the ELITE guys and took WA for #1

wow, that was confusing, hope that makes sense.
