i don't know about you guys but i've had a ton of a great experiences with taxi drivers in the united states.

-smelly or run down cars
-****ty driving
-call ahead to organize one and they forget or show up late
-don't know where they're going or worse are intentionally taking longer routes to get more money out of you.

we need to keep these guys going.

Why don't cities go green by banning cars outright and going with rickshaws? Or is that cultural appropriated green technology?

We have those down on the waterfront in seattle, catering to tourists of course.

Well, not rickshaws, SEATTLE PEDICAB - Home but same concept.

You know you laugh,,,
but I'd like to see part time jobs like this for people. Great teenage job!
Government does have a role in regulating things to try to make life better...
'forcing' Quality over Quantity

One thing I really appreciate in Mexico is that there is a law that you can't pump your own gas. Anyone remember gas station attendants? Anyone remember why gas stations got rid of them? So, liken that cheaper gas? Still think the savings embedded in the price there for you?

I pull in. Say fill it up with 'grade gas'. They ask if I want anything checked, windows washed....
It's better

Nothing different than the licensing requirements for hair stylists, tattoo artists, etc. There is nothing intrinsically corrupt about it, beyond a money stream for the government. Having your plumber or electrician licensed infers at least a minimum of general knowledge of their jobs.

The difference is how the city picks and chooses who gets those licenses. There is no restrictions on the number of plumbers there are in a city beyond market saturation.

It also drives up the costs of every day basic services.

Regulation always comes at a price. Ultimately one that you and I end up baring the burden of paying for. Figuratively and literally.

seems like the free market has a strong preference towards ride sharing

Licencing menial **** jobs like cabbies and hair dressers is absolutely hilarious. Nothing but a cash grab that drives up prices for common services.

You live in Mexico? Why haven't you ever mentioned it?

Next thing you know you're going to tell us you surf or something crazy like that.

Absolutely
We have people from nations all over the world. You all should post your national interests. Don't make this all US based.

Going behind the local plumbing companies and fixing their **** ups is something I do all the time. Tech School plumbers are ****ing cancer.

If I start a business cutting hair in the back of a car while transporting you between locations, which license do I need?

Mandatory minimum wages for jobs like this, destroys jobs and creates unemployment.
It creates a gig economy driven by cash transactions and unsecure work.
Not having this is what generally separates the First from the Third world.

That is why they are all dominated by Indians and Asians b/c they are scumbags and want to turn the entire world into ****holes like where they came from

Well, that's a gross over-generalization.
