this was funny to me at the time and even funnier now. i am well aware of what tw 'wants' and even agree with some of it that isn't pants on retarded, but i am treated with contempt by the dev team and pts because i hold different opinions and challenge what the #midair.pug hivemind thinks.
i dont think tw is a homogeneous entity that 'wants' anything in particular as a group so i think its surprising that you think you know what it wants
much like the tribes community itself, tw is full of factions with fundamental disagreements about what 'tribes' is
if anything the only common consensus here is 'fuck off with your game until its ready' because we've seen a ton of projects like this (*cough*including Legions from some of the same devs*cough*) come and go and no one cared
and imo tribes is an impossible thing to get right in this day and age, because of conflicting goals that are incompatible with each other
on one hand Mabel is making a tribes game that he would enjoy playing, but if he makes a true Tribes game with all the steep learning curve and skill a tribes game requires, he's essentially only make a game for the very small tribes community (300 people? tops?) that will not be financially successful.
so you have to appeal to everyone else - which means alienating a % of your true core audience by adding new dumb shit and overly complicated pack systems and derpy mechanics
and then there's the conflicting objectives of 'adding new fun things for newbs' and 'simplifying things for newbs' which is kind of hilarious because its become the 'dont you care about the children' argument of Tribes and is used to justify both complicating and simplifying the game with the same argument
although its a nice idealistic theoretical game to want to create, a Tribes game isn't a viable business strategy which i guess why they used kickstarter
then again if they're actually able to pull off all those things and appeal to everyone then that's awesome
