I had two pet rats growing up. Snowball and pepper. I raised them right out of the nest from a friend that had a litter. They were truly awesome pets; rode on my shoulders as I rode my bike. We had an old chest of drawers in the garage that they lived in; no cage they had the run of the garage. If you raise them right and take care of them well they are very good small pets.
