Tennessee was reportedly about to hire Greg Schiano as its new head football coach on Sunday. After fans protested loudly, that now seems less likely.

The former Rutgers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach has spent the last two seasons as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator. Several reports indicated the Vols were close to hiring him Sunday, but Rivals’ Tennessee site reported fan backlash led to a breakdown in negotiations: “Greg Schiano will not be the Vols' next head coach.”

The Vol fans did it and the Schiano hire is cancelled. Crazy. This has to be the first time social media has affected change at this stage so quickly in college football.

Their AD is so fucked and I have bags of popcorn waiting to see this play out.
