You can do hotlapping, it works just like in the demo I think. You look at the leaders boards and then can race from there.

yea, their matchmaking still sucks.
You also cant race in anything less than A. I would really like to race online in classes even lower than that

There are a million options you can adjust for a custom game, including car class. I haven't actually tried it, but I'm pretty sure you can set the car class option that's buried in there somewhere to whatever you want.
I just did a few rally races in D class cars with a friend. It was a blast. You just have to play with friends that will agree to a class, even if the game doesn't.

I think they are patching the classes in races too IIRC.

You can do it in split-screen games. I raced my cousin and was able to set the class limit to anything from F to R1 to completely open (any). I assume the setup screen for online is the same (for the host anyway). Find games hosted by people who don't suck.

I use the in-car view 95% of the time, and I've never noticed any frame rate issues with it. Seems exactly the same as when you're outside

The game runs at 60 fps, it looks beutiful in motion, and the controls are great. I always play in the cockpit view, I think it's easier to steer that way.

nope... stock Elite
the steering just seems jerky to me in cockpit mode
One other thing i like about this version is that cars wreck eachother and the ai drivers actually overshoot corners, spin out, crash, and actually behave normally in traffic.
