It's funny that you think they are going to bother giving you a recommendation (that you certainly don't need anyway). You already have the next job, you don't need to compromise your integrity for their recommendation. If they do business like that, you won't want their recommendation.

Email your contacts anything truthful.
 
you should send emails to all the clients you dealt with regularly announcing that you are leaving the company and going to the other one
