So I just started EVE

dgamer

Veteran X
Im Gallente, and I did the Military, Advanced Military, Industrial tutorials so far, and finishing up Business and Exploration. Any advice?

if it's your first time ever, stay above .5 until you know what you're doing. I believe the mission hub for gallente is dodixie and oursulert (sp?) so get started on some missions. Then be sure to salvage them when your done running them for some extra isk.

Don't worry about mining. ever.

i made the early mistake of spending several months training mining barge skills back when tribalwar inc. was a mining corp. after that i made the mistake of spreading myself thin across just about every ship type and weapon type, and forgetting to log in for days at a time with my queue inactive, and other such bloopers that have resulted in my 5 year old character having only 19 million SP. so train for what you want to do exclusively and don't branch out... and keep your queue active. that's really all the advice ive got besides finding a helpful corp other than the one you start in

Doing what? The most important decision is what path you want to go down then training accordingly.

What do you think that might be?

Download Evemon, it's very useful.

As far as I know, the corp takes specific orders from other corps and players to manufacture items. Right now, they supposedly have a bulk order for a large number of rifters and are selling them for 145k each.

I won't be doing any of the mining/manufacturing stuff though. I'm supposed to be escort for miners or traveling transport ships, so I'm supposed to follow a combat-centered skill tree or something, which is what I want.

Will mission running/escorting against NPCs help me with PVP at all, or is PVP vastly different and I should just jump in? I'd like to get into a corp in lowsec in the future.

Vastly different. Carebear (highsec) space is a completely different beast to flying in lowsec / nullsec.

But you're only a few days into this game and having half-decent skills really does help. By all means do some missions in carebear space to understand the basics of targeting / blowing shit up while training.

If I were you I'd figure out what ship you want to fly, and then use EveMon / EFT to train the correct primary / support skills for it.

Post your ideas / plan here first, because there's nothing worse than training the wrong skills.

if ur going to "escort" miners, all u will be doing is sitting in a belt/mission/whatever while the faggy miners mine and u just wait until a rat spawns and kill it. its no where near pvp. you would get more gratification by grinding lvl 4 missions (and i fucking hate missions)

0.0 is where the fun begins. join #tribalwar to become a 0.0 homo (home owner) as soon as possible

Just wanted to say thanks for these guides guys, I just started playing yesterday (10 hours + lol) after I saw that Dust 514 game preview at E3....

Playing as Carlos Schaeffer.

hate to break it to you but most of the eve community thinks dust is a joke and ccp are wasting resources on a shitty game that will flop.

that is fine ;), I really enjoy eve right now, i realize i will probably never ever do anything epic in some crazy corporation but I am having a ton of fun right now. And if dust doesn't flop I am good at console FPS so it might be fun.
