Was supposed to start by now but its not going. "Sony pre-E3 conference delayed, attendees beginning to file in". Hopefully it will start soon. And hopefully not OFN.

*Edit* got a logo and music now, hopefully starting soon

I wonder if they'll up the hype this year and say the PS3 can cure cancer and AIDS.

I think this is really the press conference... confuse the attendees by playing really bad music and then announce it as over. The media will never know what hit them.

Let the hype commence!

Edit:

Here we go! Wheee!

The interesting parts are in bold.
  • Playstation 3 is not an incremental update
  • Best of breed computer entertainment platform
  • the essence of the playstation DNA is real change
  • the playstation 2 will continue to provide blahblahblah
  • More than 18 million [UMD movies] have been shipped to market
  • PSP camera, wtf? Isn't the appeal of camera cellphones that they have on built in?
  • I like the hot plastic and the little nubby bits
  • blahblahblah I am a paid actor
  • Still waiting for the neat stuff
  • Crazy Japanese Guy: It's not only going to be part of my life, but it's going to be part of people's lives around the world ...
  • Weak applause
  • Create products that truly inspire, etc. More hollow talk
  • Recap
  • Powered by Cell, billions of dollars invested, power riviling super computers (hehe), etc.
  • PS3 utilizes Blu-Ray, but is compatible with a "huge" variety of optical disk formats" (ie. CDs and DVDs. Hehe)
  • Removable harddrive, gigabit ethernet
  • More yawning
  • Back catalogue compatibility ("To the next level"! ie. PS2 AND PS1!)
  • Blu-ray hype. "True 1080p HD world", etc.
  • PS2 games began using mostly DVDs, then moved to CDs
  • "More playstation owners are going to buy an HD display" (not compared to anything)
  • Comes with HDD (no "core" version?)
  • Simultaneous world November launch
  • Console still looks like a novelty grill
  • Yakkery
  • They'll actually have playable demos this time
  • More yakkery about the company, integration, etc.
  • SCE president comes out to crappy music and weak applause
  • Expected yakking
  • Gran Turismo guy comes out to better applause.
  • "Gran Turismo HD" Tech Demo is about to be shown, running at 1080p. No idea if it's on hardware or not. It also sounds like it's just a higher resolution GT4 with a little more fancyness, but it's just a Tech Demo. (Can't make out quality with the stream)
  • The controller he's holding doesn't look like a boomerang. Why he's holding it for a non-playable tech demo, I do not know.
  • GT HD is optimised to use the HDD, loads in 2 or 3 seconds.
  • Now to do math homework whilst this demo goes on. The stream isn't all that useful for showing off 1080p. And the demo is fairly long/dull (no fancy depth of field effects or anything expect the high resolution).
  • Comparison of PS1 / PS2 resolution to 1080p
  • He could be playing if it's networked or something, no way he could keep straight with those weird 3rd person views. No indication of network play though
  • Things about GT5 being playable online
  • GT5 will be closer to the PS3's launch than GT3 was to the PS2's
  • Here comes the hype float again.
  • A card based battle game (uggh), with the power of the PS3 and the "incredible computer vision" (Eyetoy).
  • It's a semi-interesting demo with him moving the cards around and such, but it involves actual physical cards being used on a table with a grid. The PS3 isn't rendering the card physics but figuring out where they physically are and making a little monster appear over them. Odd. But then, it's a card game :P
  • Online stuff to come. Talking about how he was always thinking about this stuff (besides being behind XBL in features)
  • Online is as essential as the air that we breathe (seriously)
  • OMG the PS3 will have online features as exciting as: messaging, account management, etc.
  • PS3 online service will be Free
  • PS1 games will be purchasable through the PS3's online service, and will be playable on the PSP via emulators
  • Other PSP content can be purchased
  • Watching him play PSP games is not that interesting :P
  • Things can be bought with points, which can be purchased online or via cards bought instore. Ala XBL.
  • Games can have stores built into them. Eck
  • Music videos and purchasable songs on the Sing Star karaoke game. You can also record (with the camera) your performances and upload them. Run away!
  • Some Game Republic game is being shown. Real-time weapon and character change, how revolutionary! (It's a 3rd person action game)
  • This game is uninteresting, lags, has odd physics, has a small uninteresting and constrictive environment, has moronic enemies, but uses some okay shader effects.
  • Weak applause. Always weak applause
  • Reality, 21st century style
  • F1 Game being shown
  • He's going to show off a Wing Mirror. One that's on a PSP, streaming off the PS3. It's a neat demo, though completely useless in this regard (who's going to tape a PSP to their TV screen for this?). The Gamecube could do this too, but it was pretty dumb on there as well.
  • Some gladiator game (Heavenly Sword). They just flew into the air and fought each other in mid-air ala a kungfu movie. Nice. Looks very good graphically.
  • Physics everything, what with the swords and the bodies flying and whatnot
  • Stronger applause
  • A prerendered video (LAIR). Dragons and such. Uninteresting.
  • Another prerendered video. Don't care.
  • Prerendered video with Zebras and other african wildlife (title: Afrika). Doesn't look very good, especially the water. No gameplay of any sort shown.
  • A golf game (Everybody's Golf). Doesn't wow graphically, but it's definately beyong the PS2. Prerendered.
  • Harry Potter? Something crappy looking. Again, prerendered trailer.
  • Two 1st party titles to be announced:
  • Guys with sun glasses getting a gun out of a car. Driving and duking it out with another car in the desert. Looks absolutely terrific, but it's prerendered. Physics, jumping through windows, tearing the cars apart realistically, the works. Title: Eight Days
  • Some game in a tropical jungle island setting. Doesn't look as good visually, but there is a ton of stuff on the screen and the physics are quite nice (showed a car runing into a bunch of boxes). Title: Naughty Dog? (wtf?)
  • New game: Resistance: Fall of Man. Alternate history 1951. Some aliens invade Earth. You take the part of a resistance movement in Britain. Crapload of stuff going onscreen, looks kind of like COD2 but more hectic (and with aliens). People flying, grenades launching, etc. Besides looking quite good, it's just another FPS. Dang he has a lot of grenades. Has 32 player online, and is playable at the booths
  • The "playable section" of the first party titles is over (even though he was showing a lot of prerendered trailers, but hey).
  • Third party time. Sounds like more trailers.
  • Assasin's Creed video shown. No gameplay involved, just a cinematic.
  • Gundam game shown. Looks non-crappy, surprisingly. No gameplay shown, but it could be promising (especially compared to the other Gundam games)
  • Codedarms Assault shown. No gameplay, nothing to say.
  • Ridge Racer 7 shown. No gameplay.
  • Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Was as expected.
  • Tekken 6 shown. Looked poor compared to the others, besides the animations.
  • Sonic game shown. Didn't look incredible (honestly, they should stick to 2d Sonics)
  • Virtua Tennis 3. Looked like... tennis. Characters look like poop.
  • Virtua Fighter 5. Looked pretty good, besides the flat environments. Again, no gameplay.
  • Some Woo game, missed the title
  • Some weird game with flying things
  • Connection cut off
  • Watched some Gamespot ads to get back into the stream
  • EA Canada guy is starting to talk about NBA Live, comparing PS2 to PS3 graphics
  • Nice player animation, "procedural awareness" (it's following a cursor thing around). It's prerendered.
  • The character is turning and moving around realistically. Comparing it to the PS2, where players just spin and can only move in 45 degree angles.
  • Here comes the "real" demo.
  • Some animation transitions are slightly disappointing, but otherwise it looks quite nice. Doesn't seem any different from the Xbox 360's. Small lag noticable.
  • "U-Cap". It seems like hyped motion capture (including decent facial expressions). They have a realistic looking Tiger Woods character, which is impressive, but he's the only thing in the environment. It's still EA.
  • 10 EA titles within 6 weeks from launch. Fight Night, Medal of Honor, Army of Two, etc.
  • EA turd is done. No applause, or they cut the audio off.
  • Final Fantasy XIII time. In FFXIII and FF vs. XIII
  • Prerendered cutscenes, as you can expect from a Final Fantasy game. A shred of prerendered gameplay, which looks spiffy. Nothing on the versus version.
  • "Sense", MGS 4. Prerendered cutscenes. Some war is going on, mercs and machines are killing for profit, everything is ID tagged, etc. Nanomachines are inside the soldiers bodies. Very compelling cutscene. That weird Raiden guy has a spooky exoskeleton suit, and Snake points a gun in his mouth as if he means to commit suicide (ends suddenly).
  • Powered by the world's most powerful processor... but WAIT THERE'S MORE! (He's going to reveal a Wii ripoff controller, I'll bet you)
  • Waiting
  • Dual Shock + Wii-style control.
  • Warhawk shown using the controller. Because you need to keep your hands on the stick and buttons, it's not as easy to rotate as the Wii controller.
  • This guy either sucks or the thing is very shaky and hard to use (probably due to holding it with two hands, compared to the Wii's pointer-style).
  • I hate how they say "Computer Entertainment System". Come on, it's a console.
  • November 17 Launch in North America and Europe
  • 20GB: $499 US / $549 CAD / ***8364;499
  • 60GB: $599 US / $699 CAD
  • (the hell?)
  • End
