Training is going well.
Have a 2 day enduro next weekend and hope I do well for my age group.
been concentrating on shoulders and legs.
Will be the oldish guy on a 150

haven't posted in a while but thought I would update:

About 2 years ago I got tired of going to the gym by myself and just doing the usual so I found a no-nonsense boxing and crossfit place and it has been amazing. For the first year I did nothing but boxing which was basically 75% cardio training and the rest bag work. Now I have switched over to CrossFit. It's not like it was when it started where people were getting injured left and right. The coaches are super strict on form. The other cool part is that they are part of this huge network that get the WOD (workout of the day) pushed to them every morning. So I have a phone app that ties into that and I can keep track of everything including personal records.

Overall I'm in better shape than ever even at age 51. I just finished my first CrossFit Open which is a competition. It was was great minus the very last day:

120 Wallballs
60 Cal row
40 Pullups
All within 20 minutes. I was shaking for literally an hour after that because it sapped all my blood sugar

Once your past 40 you should concentrate on maintaining muscle mass.
The biggest issue I see at the gym is older fat people wailing away on cardio machines.
If you have one hour, spend 40 minutes on weights, 20 minutes on cardio.
I walk a lot so I just do weights.
I still at an older age am stronger than most younger guys.LOL

haha yep.

We all played basketball last Saturday and this younger dude (25) who was supposed to cover me said "****er quit running so much"

51 years old (52 in a couple weeks) 6'1" 185 lbs


and a new record..
