Horus Heresy sets the stage for it all and the interactions between the many primarchs and key figures throughout the Heresy echoes far into the future

if you saw 'gods of egypt' movie, they can scale people in size, so it can be done.

there is easily enough material to run 10 seasons. id watch the hell out of it for sure.. if they stayed true to the books, most people wont handle the blood and gore

could you imagine them doing horus heresy justice like the MCU for movies?

i'd frame it through the eyes of a remembrancer piecing together what actually happened 10,000 years ago

opening scene: the end of the battle at Istvaan V... 'the first blow against the Imperium was the Dropsite Massacre..." leading into a scene where loyalists are being butchered for a few minutes with a voice (Horus) saying "Let the galaxy burn" that transitions to him being named Warmaster that kicks everything off from there.

Hours heresy would be sweet but you could really milk the **** out of it by starting with a few episodes of the age of terra to show how pimp humanity could be, watch them nearly get wiped out matrix style, then return to greatness, then HH. You could make the series finale the emperor bring put on the throne and knowing everything he worked for would get corrupted and what not

the show sucks real bad.

if they ever try to make a legit 40k movie or tv show, the studios will ruin it.

plenty of material to work with for sure

prelude: a few short scenes you mentioned plus the Unification Wars leading to Mt Ararat with the Emprah giving order 66 to the Custodes to kill off the last of the Thunder Warriors now that the final battle for Terra is over and Big E switches gears to the Great Crusade.

So many story arcs to weave a damn good show or movie series imo

Are the Horus Heresy novels any good? I enjoy space opera type science fiction, but I'm skeptical. As someone who knows nothing about the material, would I appreciate?

I enjoy them greatly... more than WH40K novels (except Talon of Horus and Black Legion -great books imo). Sets the stage for WH40K.

Shakespearean [context: tragedy] in that mankind is sooooooo close to achieving galactic supremacy... only for the wheels to fall off when it was well within their grasp.

Warning: not all novels (54 total, last one due out soon) are good / great, but they do contribute to the overall story arc. Here's my favs list:

Furious abyss

If you like space operas, check out this anime called legend of the galactic heroes

I don't like anime at all generally but lotgh is one of the best things I've ever watched in any media. The amount of "holy fuk they killed THAT guy off" factor would make got blush
