crawling to the Border for

Then I get to Surf when the waves are present.

Well
I knew I couldn't come back to this thread without talking about my dead dog.
Tiki - Australian Shepherd ~15 years
Died in February '19

It's Saturday
I surfed
I got drunk for this
thought of ideas
olst them...

Tiki was my second Australian Shepherd
and I'll swear
they are the best breed between wild and domesticated

Hula was my first and she was the champ at agility, speed, and fetching
(once hula knocked herself out on a speed run when she was doing her race course in our big grass/tree backyard...)

Tiki came in after a divorce, Hula's death, and my daughter ready to take on the responsibilities of a dog. daughter is a great care taker
for too long of time
it was me, my daughter, and Tiki
and when my daughter was with my ex it was
him and me

i went to a breeder I'd chose, and daughter and i drove a long way to pick out Tiki barely open eyes. We chose (all were snatched up) and waited until he was old enough to pick up. When we went to pick him up I could tell there was a bit of a problem. He had a problem with one eye and (I could tell by doctor's and breeder's face) was not ideal...

This was the dog my 8 year old daughter picked out and we stuck by him...
he had a bit of a problem with his left vision side. He was still a pretty good Frisbee fetcher, but over time other things;
he was very ornery and did not get along with other dogs at all. This was a pain because at the time I wanted to take him to dog parks to meet women who loved dogs... did not work. We loved him anyway

Kekoa came along when I met my 2nd wife. It took a loonnngggg aaaassssss time
but finally Tiki thought of Kekoa like a little slave...

here's a great story
once Patricia and I were walking on the beaches of Mexico
tiki on leash because of his attitude
kekoa off leash
kekoa and tiki separated by a large margin on the sand
three stray pack mex dogs came up on little terrier kekoa
and started attacking him
I knew I was too far away so I quickly let tiki off leash
He rushed up and body slammed two of them, rolled, got up and chase all three off...

anyway, i miss tiki
He and kekoa were staying at our house in Mazatlan, nice front yard
but
at the time he died we were in TJ while I worked
We were paying a good dog-walker to take care of them while we were away
(he was at the doctors the night tiki died)
and my wife's dad loved Tiki and took him out regularly
It was the right thing because our tj apartment is too small
and we're there every other month...
still
I knew tiki was getting old
acting sluggish
last time I was in Mazatlan
we saw he had trouble getting up
breathing had been labored for coming up on a year
we'd had a tumor removed from his leg...
so found out he had the cancer
We were going to be back to Mazatlan when I had a break from work in a week
Tiki started having real problems
went to the vet
breathing problems
put to sleep while he was asleep
but I wasn't there...

he's buried at la casa in Mazatlan
Kekoa goes over and sniffs

One more day in the classroom before retirement! Over 32 years teaching and tomorrow is my last day! You all won't believe the **** posting heading your way; i just may crash TW again.

So, I will now be there when each and every swell hits... Also, looking forward to building/buying? (is that what today's gamers do?) a game computer... i've been out of Tribes and gaming for too long.

TW is Dead
Long live TW

I read the thread. Sorry about the loss of your dog. Get some security cameras from Wyze, they're cheap because it's a start up company. I have 2 hanging above my garage, one at my dad's assisted living facility, and one at their house.
Wyzecam - $20 - I have two outside.
Wyzecam Pan - $30 - good indoors.
They are powered with a USB-C cable, and connect wireless.
Wyze | Making Great Technology Accessible
Sends 13 seconds clips to the cloud for free if motion detected, takes a rest for 5 minutes after that. Records 24/7 to a memory stick, buy that on Amazon. Buy the cameras from the Wyze web site.

Speaking about my dad, it's great you can retire at 60 and surf. But eventually you'll need to move near your daughter so she can take care of you. That's what happens, the kids take care of the parents. There's other places besides California in the USA. By then you may be done with surfing, plus they have parks with man made waves.

Always great advice NGFM. The condo has 24\7 Security and cameras in main areas. But I and the other two owners on the 14th floor are going to share cameras in elevator lobby so we can monitor it ourselves. We'll look into the Wyzecams for the house too; thanks for putting that in my mind. Would be good to have when we're not there too.

You're right about getting older. At best I've got 20 years left in the water. I have a friend, 76, that goes out on a boogie board still. I'm still standing up,,, but eventually I'll just prone on a boogie board before giving it up.

Daughters are still finishing college and we don't know where they'll settle. Thank goodness neither are wedded to California. When they settle we'll think about selling some land we have to move closer by them. At the moment, both know how to jump on a jet and get to Mazatlan within 3 hours.

Hahaha
I was white devil before they ever started calling me that so they're accurate.
Her Caldo de pollo is very healthy. And her puerco beans are almost as good as her mom's. so many good places to buy meat around here and tacos no need to make them here.

i always figured marrying an ethnic would have the most payoff because i've already got white culture covered i don't need some broad around to tell me how to cook chili and pecan pie

did you marry two mexicans or was your first wife pure and how would you compare

My first wife was half Chinese half German. Her family were some of the high-ranking that fled to Taiwan during the revolution. The German half has roots back to the 'Daughters of the American Revolution'. Seemed like decent genes at the time. My daughter from the first marriage graduated with a chemical engineering degree and is now doing a masters in bioengineering.

Oh and I would have loved to have had a child with my Hispanic wife. She is absolutely beautiful and very smart. Her mother has blue eyes and her grandfather had blue eyes with both sides having direct lineage back to Europe Spain. Her daughter is a joy to be around, very beautiful, and doing well in school. She wants to become a teacher like her mom and me.
