For the past 13 years I've been obsessed with opera and involved in it in one capacity or another.

Like with any song that anyone could love there are just some parts of music that you find really powerful and you just want to share, so here it is...

If you can take 2 an a half minutes and listen to this, you'd be doing yourself a favor.

The baritone singing here, accompanied by the tenor and soprano, is named Sherrill Milnes, a good ol' American from Illinois I think. I would safely say amongst the greatest 10 operatic baritones to ever live, is just incredible here.

The composer is Gaetano Donizetti, one of the two main inspirations for one of the greatest composers to ever live, Giuseppe Verdi.

To be at a live performance of Sherrill Milnes singing this to an auditorium of 2,700 people with no microphone amplification and drowning out an entire orchestra would be something you'd remember for the rest of your life.

I like classical music/opera

Nothing particularly spectacular ever comes to town though :(

For most of my adult life, i have been listening to music that has little to no lyrics at all (House, downtempo, drum-n-bass, ambient). A great side bonus to this is that i can sit at my desk and plug away to reports and proposals without getting stuck singing some lyrics and can just focus on my work.

Lately, i have been listening to jazz music on Amazon Prime. I was talking to my dad the other day about it (because he does the same) and I told him I found some excellent Jazz for reading playlists and he told me to check out some classical music (my daughter used to call it 'royal music'). So, I have been playing royal music while plugging away but sadly, I don't know much about it.

Opera can work too because i have no fucking clue as to wtf they are saying so it has the same effect as most music i listen too. lol.

opera is perfect for not needing to know the lyrics but also enjoying the music of it
 
I'm a guitarist and an amateur singer but despite having an appreciation for the skill that opera singing requires, it just doesn't resonate with me. I did recently have second row seats at the Boston Symphony Orchestra in September and it was pretty cool. We should have sat farther back because sadly the acoustics are worse than expected in the front, and you can barely see the far side of the stage. It was cool to be so close to the cellos and bassists though. Hadn't seen an orchestra since I was a kid and too young to fully appreciate it.
