[got haggis] Star wars battlefront 2 micro transactions backfire

I used to watch the streams for battlefront to see if t was good.

Either the people didn't care they were supporting ea, or they were "sarcastically" streaming to show how bad the game was.

Either way they profited off the bullcrap.

I got bored watching the same OP heroes sweep the field and the choke point holding bs.

Just not a good game.

And now they buffed the rewards, which is a tacit admission that without lootbox purchases you were never going to get anywhere.

its the same shit with every game on reddit, the publisher introduces some sort of way for them to make additional money, reddit freaks out because none of them have jobs and they have to beg mommy and daddy to pay for the new DLC, they all protest and say "im never buying another EA game again"

but then they go and preorder the next shitheap EA cranks out

fucking morons..
also fuck reddit...it's an echo chamber where u get attacked and doxed for disagreeing with the mob, even if you are speaking facts.

id agree about the mob mentality... but this wasnt the same shit with every game. This one was EA saying man we've got them this is Star Wars, people want to play it, lets make sure we have every kid asking mom to buy a 20$ card every week. it wasnt just pay to win, it was pay to play as darth vader.

the pay to win aspect was BRUTAL though. the differences between decked out and a new player were so vast that i feel like the EA mentality was lets make sure these people get their shit wrecked and they HAVE to spend money.

Sarah E. Needleman on Twitter:

sold 882k retail units, Battlefront 2015 sold 2.1 million first month.

I do remember Battlefront 2015 having a deep discount just a few weeks after release, pretty sure it was like $49 on Black Friday. Battlefront 2 didn't see much in the way of a discount so there's that.

Supposedly the new COD sold like 4.4 million vs the 900k for BF2. That only includes physical for both but still pretty telling.

Of course Activision had pay to win loot boxes but kept them on the down low and avoided all the negative attention.

"Kept them on the down low" being kinda relative, seeing how it had loot boxes drop from the sky on Normandy while others stood around and watched so they could get an achievement.

Im not sure what sort of advantage you get from CoD loot boxes. If you wanted a bedazzled shovel that does the same damage as a regular shovel.... maybe if you feel better about yourself you play better.

People are going to run all loot boxes out of games which is probably dumb. Its a good model for devs to get extra cash flow for cosmetic items that dont influence the game. Its this obvious F2P model being installed into a full priced game that has people up in arms and they cant seem to direct their anger properly.

When you put it that way, keeping them seems to make no sense either.

The outrage is 100% properly directed.

-Pre-oerder bonuses
-Day 1 DLC
-'Early Access' subscription services
-Digital tiers of products beyond 'Standard Edition'
-Season Passes
-RMT with randomized rewards

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK all of that. Even if you personally don't buy into any of that horse shit; that still isn't a reason to want it in the games.
