What is it? From what I can tell, if you sign up to thug for the MIC - and make no mistake, that's what you're doing, as the US military has not "defended the Constitution1" ever during its existence - here's what you factually get as benefits. Note that I haven't "served" in the US MIC, so anyone who has can fix any errors my research has come up with:
There's also a plethora of after-service benefits available to the retired MIC enforcer. All in all, I cannot for the life of me see what the "sacrifice" here is. Theoretically you can get your arms and legs blown off or your cranium burst open by a 7.62x39, but you signed up for that shit. That hazard is also significantly lower now that the last giant US warcrime in Iraq and Afghanistan has calmed down. I gotta give it to Trump, I too don't understand why US MIC thugs are worshipped when they do nothing for their community or country and know that there's a microscopic chance they will die in service. Ain't no mother fucker thanking loggers or steel workers for their service.
1"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic"
- Salaried pay based on rank + years "served"
The base starting pay for an Army E1 is 19k, which is above the Federal minimum wage by around 5k. It is almost 10 bucks an hour and remember, the goon has the following insane benefits to go with it: - Full medical and dental
- Additional allowances & bonuses
- Free housing
The average American at a similar earnings level spends about 6k a year on housing. For our goon, communism prevails. - Free food at base (mess hall)
- Food allowance
- MREs
- No sales tax at commissary
This is also just plain communism. At least the MIC calls it an "exchange", commissary would be too obvious I guess. - 30 days off per year, which is above the standard in the US
In the private sector, you have to work at the same company for 20 fucking years to get the same amount of vacation a fresh cuntface goon gets right off the bat. - Signing bonus*
*Special rules and conditions apply - College Loan Repayment Program
That's right, the US taxpayer will foot the bill for your College education after you get out! - Many others I'm not sure about
