Freedom of Speech gone in Australia

Just another place like Japan and South Korea where the marriage rate is dropping like a rock and men are opting out of society

Thought this was about banning Kuunt. Who fucking cares about Australia. They have big fucking mouths anyway so learning to keep them shut is probably a good thing.

by calling anyone that disagrees with you a redneck or bigot, do you feel you are contributing to meaningful debate?

the only reason people like vanster and coombz aren't in prison for their online comments is because nobody has bothered to tell on them yet......or they are smart enough to only pick on "non-protected" classes.

well........we did catch vanster saying the n-word and something about hispanics

I don't care that she was fired. I care that she was called a homophobe. Thats like calling someone a nazi these days, and I would sue the shit out of the person for saying it.

Fuck me? No Fuck YOU!

do I spy TW libertarian die hards crying that the state needs to step in to prevent business owners from persecuting special snowflakes?

the only consistent thing about you guys is how consistently inconsistent you are :)

days like this I feel like I've voluntarily stayed back a few classes to try and help educate the special ed kids. I bet the big difference is that downs syndrome kids can actually be taught to understand basic concepts and not to smear shit all over their own faces, eventually...

she should have told them she was muslim

she should just go hurry up and convert

then sue the school into bankruptcy

without reading this let me guess the content

yadda yadda yadda

something something about how what i say doesn't matter

because, in fact, i am just better than the rest of you guys

i float in my own clouds, over my own body, that are perpetually powered by my own smug hubris

did i get it right?

of course i did........it is all coombz posts on TW (and irl is my guess)

I'm not a libertarian although I like their ideas. I'm what some people might call.

A political potato. Staying on the same ground as it was planted however people keep fighting over who owns me. I hear stamping near the green bits of the plant and I don't like that, but I don't do much besides grow more potato-ey.

it is like we will not stop until only rejects and retards rule the world

inherit all that is left of whatever it is we used to fight for and over

It's a good thing Tele.

If you can get a govt job, make sure hire leftists and SJW, for the most critical positions possible

I'm pretty sure you can't sack someone for political or religious affiliation or beliefs.

So how the fuck does this work?

No expert here, but it could be argued that she's not being sacked for her beliefs, but for her public expression of them and the negative impact that might cause for her employer.

Used to work with a guy (at a telco) who once posted to facebook something along the lines of "I work for <company> and having had a chance to play with the new iphone, it's a piece of crap." Someone dobbed him in for it and he was in all sorts of shit for it.

As an 'entertainer' (even if it's just for kids shows), she's someone who's quite directly interacting with the end customers of the business, so the image that she projects is absolutely a part of her job. As an example, it'd be a bit of a problem if some kid's party clown started posting not-quite-kiddy-porn or something. He might not be breaking any laws, but it's just bad for business.

It's a bit harsh, but if her employer feels she's a liability, he should be able to cut her loose. Same with the whole 'gay cake' thing - they should be able to decide they don't want to serve that customer if they don't want to.

As to the original premise though, although we don't actually have it there in our constitution (our own version of Bill O'Reilly wound up getting charged and convicted for spouting racist crap a little while back) - that's not what it means, anyway ;)

Well I would love to see the shit storm if someone got sacked for supporting gay marriage.

Like that would ever happen.

She isn't a special snowflake at all, everyone has an opinion on gay marriage, yes or no. No one should have to fear for their livelihood because of holding one opinion or the other.

Should you be sacked for having a bumper sticker showing your support for the labour party, or the greens? Not unless you work for the opposition at least.

This shit is brewing a culture far worse than Nazi Germany, the thought police are truly here.

As our ex Prime Minister said:

'If you don't like political correctness, vote No, if you don't like being pushed around by activists, vote No,' he said.

If you don't like the kind of intimidation that is creeping into our society the only safe thing you can do is Vote No and tell these people they have to treat our values and our institutions with respect.'

And our Deputy Prime Minister:

'If you have a vote, you just tolerate that someone has a different view... maybe the other person has a very well held view and at least give them the respect to hold their views and you hold yours,'

It's not a freedom of speech issue, her government didn't come after her for what she said, she got fired for saying something that could negatively effect the company she works for. That has always been around and happens all the time.

It's less about holding an opinion and more about publicly expressing it

She didn't say it really. It was on her personal facebook, not something that anyone hosting a kids party would ever see. They don't give out names and personal details of kid's entertainers for you to check their political/religious views. If she put it on the company webpage or wore a t shirt with a slogan to an event that is a different story.

She was fired for her religious faith that says gays should not marry, her boss did not agree with it, simple as that.

It's just an example of the new world of thought police.

I, and probably 90% of the population really don't care what she thinks, I could not care less if gays got married or not, they just need to shut the fuck up about it.

facebook isn't considered private

teachers get fired for participating in MMA

sorry, but employers can fire you if they think you are bad for their image

It's less about holding an opinion and more about publicly expressing it

So you should be afraid to publically express a political or religious opinion or belief?

Sacked for wearing a Bernie Tshirt? Having a Jesus Fish bumper sticker? Posting your support for eating a healthy diet of meat and vegetables on your facebook?

I can understand if it directly relates to your company's main focus of business, don't wear your Ford tshirt to work at Toyota. But being fired for showing your opinion on a 50/50 issue that has no bearing whatsoever on running kid's birthday parties is disgusting. It has nothing at all to do with homophobia, even if she was rabidly homophobic, still what the fuck does that have to do with kids birthday parties?

it's bullying of the worst form.
