2 my t1 brolies who didn't get me into midair prealpha

ur saying that u run it on an x850XT without using r.screenpercentage to scale it down?

or that 28fps is playable?

i dont know maybe im too picky

like, i feel like we've had this conversation before

but even with all the tweaks in the world and turning off dynamic lighting, yes i could get 120 fps but it wasn't stable at all so mouse input was erratic and i just didn't feel like a game that looks the way midiar does should run the way it does

You have to use r.screenpercentage to get it to run on anything older than a 4850. But anything made after 2012 should be fine without changing that value. If there is stuttering and the game has micropauses, it is a driver issue on your end. I had to try 4 different versions of AMD drivers before I could get rid of the issue.

at what resolution? i'm only guessing based on your screenshots which are 1600x900 - @1080p that's over 25% more pixels to push

and if you have multiple monitors thats even less performance

i don't think you can generalize and say 'below card X the game needs r.screenpercentage' without specifying so many other factors (including AMD vs Nvidia)

i'm not discounting the idea that there's some program/setting on my system that's causing the stutter, but the fact is that i can run other games from similar eras that look a million times better, a lot smoother than i can run midair

so i stand by my original opinion that midair is poorly optimized, has limited tweaking, and imo ue4 is probably not an ideal choice for a game as fast paced and big as they're trying to do with midair

fuck, i'll even say it - Tribes: Ascend looked wayyyyy better than Midair currently does, and it did it more efficiently (using less CPU/GPU) than UE4 ever will

How much of that are you confusing graphical fidelity vs art style though. Anyway UE4 as an engine will receive large updates in terms of performance, graphical fidelity, etc for many years to come. I don't think you can say the same for UE3 at this point.

0% ?

aside from player models and weapons what art is there? (and imo the weapon models are garbage and wayy overly complicated which hurts fps even worse)

oh wait there's terrain textures so one thing in those screenshots have 'art'

the only map that has a tiny bit of art is minora and thats because it has a few trees and a radar dish

right

but fyr was talking about mistaking 'art style' for 'graphical fidelity'

im not ignoring a bunch of beautiful art... it doesn't exist yet. and the little bits that do exist aren't impressive

adding art isn't going to improve the performance - if anything the game will run worse at release than it does now

yeah most of the maps aren't arted yet. iratus is a good indication of where they're gonna go and what they can do and even iratus is probably not completely finished either.

please tell me muppet odio isnt testing

lets not get real tribes people, but dickheads that can just line our tiny pockets

in retrospect it was probably for the best that they didn't invite me, i would have just said mean things about them and their game

tbh their best marketing strategy bas been to keep mabel away from the public, if that guy had to interact with the public they wouldn't give him a pot to piss in
