Your principal never gets taxed, only your investment gains are taxed. So the tax rate on the money you use as your principal (whether that money was originally earned income, or money from another source) is irrelevant to the discussion.

What is relevant is the fact that the realized gains on your investment reflect money that has been taxed (corporate profits are taxed at the corporate rate), so in effect, the capital gains have been taxed twice. Likewise, when you go and buy something in a state that has a sales tax, you are being taxed twice. Once when your income was made, and then again when you buy something.

(I dont agree with that article, its just the google result that came up)

but you do realize that no one is including the INSANE amount of capital gains taxes that he's paying from the massive amounts of investments he's sunk into? Of course you don't! Because they won't tell you this.

I really hate defending Romney, btw

Boeing used to give out 100 shares of stock for completed a degree program (masters, etc), but they would really only give you 65 shares or whatever because they assessed the income tax before awarding the shares. Of course, they dont even offer stock rewards any more

Assuming you're a self made man, your principal gets taxed when you earn it.

You can make up quotes to dismiss me, but you contradicted your entire point with two posts on the same page.

i think it's hilarious that the lower class, less educated people (jim beam, fngr) support the republicans when the democrats are the ones who would best represent their interests

they truly are too stupid to know what's good for them

It must be shocking to realize that "lower class" and "less educated" people don't want the Democrats, Republicans, or any aspect of government to help them.
