all gymnastics truly requires is a bar for the levers -- you can do planches on the ground

so it's a lot cheaper than buying weights

it's safer, too

the kidding me part was in reference to that scooby guy

Although when training gymnastics you must remember that like it or not, you're going to suck at beginning. And the amount of stuff you can do at the beginning can be very limited.
For example planches are impossible for most when they start, and the progression to make them might not feel like workout at all. Or handstand...

But in the end it's very rewarding to learn a new gymnastic skill, it does not only take strength but control, which makes it more demanding.

Cliffs: if you want easy workout, go with weights.

if a weights workout is easy, you aren't doing it right

I did not mean it like that,
I meant doing proper form with freeweights is easier than doing gymnastic forms.
I should have phrased it better, surely workout with weights can be much harder than workout without weights. Learning the form is easier with weights is what I meant.

Belial,

I actually checked out that gymnastics bodies site, but the links to the actual exercises don't seem to work for me? I found a good site that explains planche progression. Any other specifically good gymnastics exercises you'd suggest?

I've looked at the lever but it looks like you need rings for this?

the planche which I've started actually feels like it hits a lot of muscles (arms, shoulders, abs) and works balance nicely. I'm definitely going to work it into my routine.

all you need for levers is a pull-up bar

it's basically the same progression as planche, but hanging

planche progression: frog stand, advanced frog stand, tuck planche, adv tuck, straddle, full

lever: tuck, adv tuck, straddle, full

if you need me to try and describe, i can
