I realize this is an unpopular decision to make, but I just made search only available to premium accounts. Those of you without premium accounts will have to use google [google]site: tribalwar[/google] searches.
Search has been a personal project of mine for years and it's never worked perfectly since we got so large. Instead of sacrificing so much of our limited resources to make search openly available to all as we have for years, I've decided to reprioritize by making search available to a small percentage of the user base. (less than 10% of active users have ever donated).
Google searches are pretty good these days, so I feel like I haven't left you completely out to dry.
I am not happy to make this decision but as a staff member said to me tonight, "the site doesn't run on unicorns and giggles. we have to do something to keep it up".
Hopefully this offers more compelling value and shows our appreciation for those of you that have thrown in.
