Jesus. Notch may very well have one of the best selling PC games of 2011.:scared:

Maybe he can hire someone to code now.

Over 4 million now.

And it's at $21.95 now...

ViRGE 02-21-2012 06:56

5 million sold; that's $25mil in the last 3 months alone. Good god.

Mafo 02-24-2012 22:31

and he's not even coding it anymore :P

ViRGE 05-25-2012 06:44

6 million sold. This isn't even counting the 1mil+ units the Xbox360 version sold.

I don't know how Notch stays sane. Even after taxes and profit sharing among the small employee pool that's a huge amount of money for one person.

Edit: Eurogamer pegs total sales at 9.2M between the various versions. Which in laymen terms is a metric ****ton.

ViRGE 08-13-2012 04:46

7 million sold. That's 4 million copies (80 million Euros!) in a hair over a year.

ViRGE 11-12-2012 11:50

3 months later and another million copies have been sold. They're up to 8 million copies now, and that's just the PC version.

MajorChaos 11-12-2012 20:08

8million people play this game

0 people on our server

I would play it quite a bit if tekkit was on it. I got my own server that im on a lot screwing around in.

Kore 11-12-2012 21:50

I haven't been playing lately due to all the other games right now (aka GW2).

That and I've got builder's block...

ViRGE 12-29-2012 08:33

It's official: Minecraft prints money.

Dec 25th sales alone were 453K copies (across all platforms).

Meanwhile total sales have reached at least 17.6mil copies. 5mil for Pocket Edition, 8.63mil for the standard edition, and at least 5mil for the Xbox version. That's a net increase of 8mil copies (86%) in the last 6 months.:o:

Notch: Minecraft Sold 453,000 Units on December 25 - VGChartz

ViRGE 01-29-2013 12:13

9 million sold. That's only a bit more than 2 months after the last million, thanks to the huge Christmas push.

When's the last time a PC game sold 10 million copies? Because in the next few months that's happening.

Minecraft Breaks 9 Million in Sales - IGN

Oh, and Pocket Edition is up to 7.3mil units, which is a massive jump from just a month ago.

D 01-29-2013 14:39

Go **** yourself ViRGE.

ViRGE 01-29-2013 17:31

WTF crawled up your ass today, D? Is there something wrong about posting about Minecraft in the Minecraft sub-forum now?

ViRGE 04-09-2013 22:17

10 million sold.

Another 2-3 mil and they'll outsell everything except The Sims 1 & 2.

ViRGE 07-02-2013 01:36

11 million sold (actually that was a few days ago; it's up to 11.1m now)

And another 7mil now on the 360.
