Maybe limit the flag capper 5-10 grapples (enough to get back to base). The refire idea might even work, but I think ammo would be better.

not only should there be ammo, the length of time spent on one shot should be limited, to say, 10 seconds....

It sounds like 20 ammo might be too low, but I think I might change my mind after playing. You can still pick up grappler ammo from dead people, so being a grapple whoring while carrying the flag on Cavern will take even more skill.

We shall see. I kind of liked the grapple the way it is, other than heavies grappling to the roof and mortaring people which I think it pretty lame - but grappler ammo won't do anything to fix that :-(

I am not in the beta and I wouldn't say yes or no until it has been tested both ways..

Depends how much ammo. If it's 5, then I dun like ammo. If it's 20, then fine.

I don't like the idea of a time limit, but ammo may be something that needs to happen.

I like the idea of unlimited free swinging, but it seems like it may become a difficult balance issue.

maybe make it a server option.
if competition wants unlimited or ammo, it can be up to them.
if a pub server wants unlimited or ammo, it can be up to the server owner.

Granted it is a problem (from what I've heard ~ not in beta), but I don't think limiting the number of shots is the best way to go. However, if a better solution can't be found then I could live with finite ammunition.

if the grapple has "hook ammo" then wouldnt you need to reskin the grappler

there shouldnt be a reel

edit: i prefer being able to only grapple hard surfaces

I can guess that I'd prefer no hook ammo. But I'll reserve that decision until after I get my sticky lil fingers on the beta.

I wasn't in the beta, but I think grappler is a transportation tool like the jetpack that enchance the freedom of movement. So limit the ammo is like limite the freedom of movement.

I'm happy to test it with ammo, but I'd like to see it a little higher at least during beta so we have more shots to test with. I realize that it's being abused at the moment, mainly on cavern, but that's probably because players haven't found a good way to counter it yet.

Heh you only need 4-5 grapples to get across a map like the Caverns. So you could technically grab the flag and grapple around for awhile but it stops cappers from abusing it and hanging around non-stop on the ceilings.
