Iím at a job site and someone installed the toilet flange - below - the subfloor. Howís it going to end? Howís the pipe fixed to anything? Howís the toilet going to sit on the floor? Does anyone care? I predict the **** will just fall the couple inches between the bottom of the toilet and just fall directly into the pipe and there is no reason for concern.

I canít imagine a situation where the flange is that far below the floor. Unless this guy wants to redo his work I think one of those is gonna happen. Heís got it expanding foame 1/2 covering it in there so I guess he knows what heís doing.

It's the GC's fault. It's the idiot sub's fault.

got one where the GC stopped paying the roofer so he stopped doing the work. then it rained. glad I'm the agent and not the claims adjuster (or the homeowner).

Itís the homeownerís attempt at a bathroom remodel. Itís pretty much a tear out (again). I was suggesting scaling back the plans and making it functional as this is a bit far beyond his ability.... itís just like... the framed wall is 1/2 covering the ceiling light box... so how is he planning on drywalling that.... or doesnít want a light in the bathroom?? I donít know.... and the vent for the toilet is flush with the existing wall so canít really drywall that either.... just so much is not done right to even start my part.... he got a sliding barn door but thereís not enough wall space to slide it over... so like, youíre gonna need a bi-fold... I donít know, a couple YouTube videos wouldíve saved some time. Canít drywall anything without reworking the reworked work. Just kinda a sad moment when you gotta point out the countless mistakes to the guy and canít help him out. Guys like this need to stick to backsplashes and mulching and just save up.

I wouldíve taken some pictures but couldnít. Some of the worst most bizarre work Iíve seen. It was also fascinating at the same time.

This is what we think every time we see your handywork.

I can't even imagine how bad this stuff must be for you to be shaking your head at it.

Like, wire strippers ainít spensive. I found a steak knife nearby. Iím just helping with the heat pump before it gets cold.

Edit - not a steak knife but a broken in half rusted razor blade. Jfc if you buy. $6k A/C system youíd think youíd invest $100 into tools to install it properly.

I donít believe you twist wires that go into a terminal.

So I redid whatever wiring had already been ran and got good finished runs on 2 of the 5 units since those wires were long enough. Sorta hoping itíd be like an example so he can finish. I guess instead of buying a 300ft roll of wire he was trying to buy 30ft for one unit, 40ft for one unit etc and everything came up short.

I told him heíd have to solder/heat shrink the wires on the outside to get the extra length.
Cause thereís no way to junction block or wire nut and keep it water proof.

Later he says whyíd you say they were short, heís a bit annoyed and insinuating. They reach just fine. Iím perplexed cause I didnít see how. So I walk around the side heís got these cords from the 2nd floor stretched taught and going diagonal out to the compressor unit. Theyre all shoved up against the cover and itís all bent and pryed open and ****ed.

By this point i couldíve already have finished the system if it was new in the box and he hadnít touched it. Already fixed his crushed lines, lines heíd stuffed full of mud trying to shove them through the crawl space etc. The locations for the units was all wrong, the crawl space under the house was too small to dream of running a line set. Itís all mud all around the house etc. like JFC a load of gravel is $60.

I was just helping out cause he has like 5 kids running around and I wanted to help them out and get some heat but at that point it was best to walk away and let him do it himself if he wasnít going to listen to the stuff I was saying. His yard was just full of junk and circle saws and mitre saws just rusting and sitting in mud.

I think there was some mental illness going on, I seen some rough places before but it was like twilight zone over at that place.

Doesn't really matter either way, depends on how the fit is with an untwisted wire.

Point is, those ones were twisted and it looked like old lady pubes sticking out everywhere.

But yeah, I'd walk away, sounds like a nightmare
