[Mega] MAGA Super Trump Mega Thread

Are you trying to assert that sjw hold more regulatory authority than the government?

If you remove the word regulatory and ask me which ideology currently prevails over the cultural zeitgeist of entertainment it's obviously progressive leaning.

No, businesses have internal regulations too, many driven by public cultural demand. The government obviously has the extreme authority over censorship, but your original statement was that "tv censorship is a conservative idea". The most prolific tv censorship is currently coming from the left. Almost everything you've said since your original statement is pretty much contradictory, certainly very little supports your claim.

Censorship is done equally by polarized side being sjw or religious turds.

Unfortunately most of tw is filled with polarized people. There aren't many moderates so no one on tw actually supports anti censorship only anti censorship for the polarized view.

Case in point scooby

Which of those rules for decency, obscenity, and profanity were dictated entirely by conservative ideology? Can you realistically separate them from a larger group of "people with kids" or advertiser friendly mentality? I know what authoritarian religious people want off the air, but I don't think they have the cultural power to get their way anymore. I do think the authoritarian left does. Frankly it seems like they are a much more viable threat to force the FCC to set new rules for censorship, and to dictate to private companies what they are and are not allowed to show if they don't want their businesses to be hurt.

I'm not sure if you just don't see it that way, or if you don't believe the left can be authoritarian, but you seem to be fighting against the concept that any censorship is bad.

Historically, yes, I could separate.
Authoritarianism afflicts all parts of the spectrum.

And while you may be right in leftist authoritarianism posing a greater threat to possibly influence the rules historically set by conservative authoritarians, I don't believe it's the government's places to regulate expression on this level.

As far as political groups influencing private companies to make entertainment they will pay for, it is up to those individual companies to decide what they think will make them the most money.

so sjws on tw would be fine with full hardcore porn showing on sesame street, but if they said the n-word, shut it all down!

What drives me the most crazy is the solution of "just turn it off" is so fucking simple and yet people don't find it good enough.

Government enforced tv (and radio) censorship is historically a conservative idea

Businesses should be free to make their own judgements on what their customers desire

I agree, businesses are going to largely do what is most profitable. The money they make off a single episode of It's Always Sunny is likely overshadowed by the loss from authoritarians who will boycott the network and harass advertisers into pulling funds. They'll increase sales 300000%, get cultural points, etc. so why not do it? Of course it'll never be good enough, and capitulating to authoritarians tends to encourage them more.

I'd rather they tell them to fuck off.

The Federal Radio Commission began in 1927 under a Republican House, Senate, and President, ended in 1934 because it lacked sufficient regulations. It was replaced in 1934 by the Communications Act during an overwhelming Democrat controlled congress, senate, and signed into law by FDR. Democrats held the Senate and Congress until 1946, regained it in 1948, lost it again 52-54, then held the house for 40 years until 1994 and kept control of the Senate for most of that time too. During the 60 years from the FCC's foundation until 1994, they held the Presidency for 33 years, Congress for 56, and the Senate for 50.

Now I'd agree that even the Democrats back then were more "conservative" than today, at least by modern standards. However it sounds like you're really hung up on religious right folk telling us that cartoons are satan to the point that you're ignoring history.

I'm a huge fan of partisan censorship may the most dedicated censor win

nobody ever cries about it till their censorship is losing

Yes the democrats of those times were largely on board with christianity governing the moral compass of entertainment as well as republicans. I wasnt asserting this was a dnc/gop divide.
