ABORTION BILL PASSED. gg texas

To the religious zealots of my state, this is not important, the bible is the history book, religion trumps science

It will take time but we are slowly turning into a blue state

The bible has no issue with abortion. Causing one is nothing more than a fine, the amount of which is dependent on the husband's status in their community.

Also it is only outside the womb that the bible refers to the "living". So it is not a living being, by biblical standards, until it is outside the mother, breathing on it's own.

sure thing guy, you keep telling yourself that, meanwhile I get to hear the religitards of my community say the exact opposite

who is leading the anti abortion charge, the christian right

You people are seriously flogging Texas for passing a law that essentially prevents people from aborting 20 week pregnancies?

And Texans are the uneducated, backwards and regressive ones?

20 weeks is 5 months. Months. Not 5 Hours, or 5 Days, or even 5 weeks. 5 Months development.

We're not talking about snuffing out some divided cells here any more, we're talking about something that has taken the form of a human being. We're half way to the finish line, there's no getting cold feet now about it. When we get to a point when it's got all the parts, arranged in the proper and familiar shape, we're past the point of the "Pro-Life/Pro-Choice" debate.

Now we're talking about euthanizing a human being.

And there should be some rules laid out governing, where, when, why and whom should be involved in the process.

So yeah, Fuck Texas for laying out some very basic ground rules on a very sensitive issue. What a bunch of barbaric redneck monkey's.

I know they are leading, didn't say they weren't. What I did point out was the bible, it isn't what they think it is on the issue.

There's a reason why most abortion windows are in the length of that time (20 to 27 for most iirc). It's based on science btw.

"It's based on science".

What does that even mean?

Electroshock therapy and the practice of bloodletting was based on science too...

Too bad the argument is not about fetal growth and development.

The argument concerns access to legal abortions.

The bigger issue for many in the state isnt the 20 week limit its that included in the bill is wording that would shut down 90% of the clinics in the state that can perform abortions

one in san antonio, i'm good. whew.

still, we need to put about 50 of them suckers in brownsville drive-thru open 24 hours a day. this IS a stupid bill.

vote began at 12:02, isn't allowed to be voted on
bill didn't pass

sometimes republicans who want smaller government actually just want to pass all the laws they can to legislate morality

because they're fucking insane

Wish I could argue with that.

It appears that both sides aren't just convinced in their own beliefs, but are hellbent on using the government to force you to believe their way as well.

Sad shit and is going to continue to make one very fucked up country.

I'm okay with it, but as a consolation prize the woman should have her tubes tied.

Exactly, although a D&C could be done readily as an outpatient procedure at the local hospital.
