Damn good thing it didn't hit lower on the tower. That much structural damage on the lower floors might have compromised the structural integrity of the building.

my roomate woke me up and says "The country's being bombed!"

I thought China was attacking us or something.
It still makes me sick to this day to see the footage and I get so angry that I lose the ability to think rationally.

it happened on the mainland...in downtown NYC
not to play down Hawaii, but Pearl Harbor was a military target half a world away from most of the country. Not to mention that they mostly heard about it a day later in the newpaper

we all watched 9/11 happen live on TV, in living color

I was on the opposite coast and I felt like I was there. It was terrifying and angering in a way that pearl harbor only could have been to people who saw it actually happen.
