I remember the day after, the anti-war people and the hippie-american haters were already gathering steam in Canada. Someone spray painted a bullseye on the "United States of America" sign outdoors at the consulate here on the night of Sept 11, the next day it was sand blasted off but still somewhat visible.

Hard to believe it was two years ago.Yea. Feels like it happened no more than a few weeks ago, but maybe that's because it's still discussed on and off, mostly about how some people make a connection between 9/11 and Iraq, Palestine, DMCA, Carnivore, Guantánamo, Socialism, surveillance, elections and so on...

It's strange reading the first ~15 pages and remembering everything, the emotions, and reactions I felt of that day. I still recall exactly where I was when I heard about it, and what happened during the next couple hours.

I remember I was in a lecture class for Hardware when a teacher came in and started talking to my professor and all of us heard the words plane, crash and world trade center. Both me and a friend in the class looked at each and were like plane crash at the WTC?

We were immediately dismissed and everyone went down to the lounge area that was packed with hundreds of people watching a TV. I noticed a guy from a different class and went up and asked him what was going on and filled us all in. After 45 minutes we all went back to class and that's when the teacher just broke in tears and dismissed us for the day.

I went home and watched CNN, Fox, etc the entire day.

I remember hearing it through word of mouth and not believing it at all (only knew of one plane then). Then I went into spanish class and my teacher was crying and we all knew it was bad. :(

i remember getting out of english class, and a friend having a radio first finding out about it - at first we thought it was a prank on a radio, like the War of the Worlds was, but we got to our World Issues class and learned otherwise. We just sat all class long and watched the news. I had to goto work after school, Toronto Star had a special edition out that they were giving out for free, and once I got to work we setup a TV so that we could keep informed. i remember getting home and sitting with my mom as she cried. believe me when i say that the collective heart of Canada was with you on that day.

Never forget. Never forget this, never forget the wars that have gone before. At the same time, never blindly accept - always question. The more questions you ask about how you live and why you live, the more you consider your actions - the better the world will be. The racism that spurred from this, the racism that is now part of government structures, that scares me almost as much as 9/11 itself. We cannot let hatred get the better of us, as it did with many people, altho understandably. Abolish hatred, and you abolish acts such as this.
