I'm not saying that the US deserved this, just saying that there are no ways to handle this.

As far as the idea that our own hatred spawned this - that's ignorant. US foreign policy isn't based on hate. I would love to hear what the families of all the Arab people who worked in the Trade Center have to say. I am sure they want the situation recitified just like most victims here. Furthermore, I would like to know if the Palestinians or whoever was supposedly "celebrating" this to know what it is like to have this kind of attack carried out on their people. It would be like destroying a sizeable chunk of thier population. I highly doubt they appreciate the scale of what has been done. I don't think some of the disenters here realize the scale of this attack. There will be a war and if needed I will be one of the first to sign up. Not for revenge but because fighting whatever evil created this plan would be a truly just cause.
You dont think they know what its like to have something like this happen? How many hundreds and thousands of Palestinians were killed by Isrealis using weapons they got FROM US, bombing and shelling their villages in tanks and planes supplied BY US. I am not in any way condoning this horrible act, but I cant say that I am suprized. And it wont be the last.

piper 09-11-2001, 01:57 PM ~bone crusher, you know NOTHING of respect.
you are a desensitized moronic child with nothing on its mind. you have no sentience, much less consideration of human beings. maybe someday when/if you grow older you may realize the absolute horror of this event today, perhaps if someone you love (if thats possible, unlikely) is tragically mutilated or killed.
don't bother posting some dumb-ass reply to me, you're on my ignore list asshole... you deserve your karma. (hmmm, oxymoronic)
~the US's foreign policy is generally to arm those pesky warring nations so maybe they'll destroy themselves, and we won't have to. well, now all of our supplying foreign arms has pissed off the wrong maniacs. now they've pissed off the wrong military. this is a NO-WIN situation. the basic fact is that there will be innocent bloodshed unfortunately. NONE of this situation is good. but you can guarantee that the US will not stand idly by. and i wouldn't either.
~god bless the victims and their families on this tragic day.

Damn good thing it didn't hit lower on the tower. That much structural damage on the lower floors might have compromised the structural integrity of the building.
As cool as it sounds, having a building of that size collapse would be extremely terrifying.

Us? Horse shit. How many of those people on these planes ever bartered arms with foreign countries? How many of the people in that building? If the perpetrators of this act wish to retaliate for these crimes you mention, why choose the WTC? This is an attack on a totemic representation of everything this country stands for, everything that it is supposedly based on. I'm no patriot, believe me, but I believe that I am blessed to live in this country. Sure, it's a shitty place sometimes, but it's eons past the current state of, say, Afghanistan. This crime simply cannot be reasoned away, it cannot be justified, and it will never be "right" or "proper." It is an outrage, a juvenille temper tantrum on an epic scale, and it disgusts me that anyone could find it reasonable or acceptable. And I would feel the same way if it had happened anywhere else.
I am not in any way condoning this horrible act, but I cant say that I am suprized. And it wont be the last.
Terrifying, but true. And as long as the world responds with violence, this cycle will never be broken.
On a side note, I feel that there are some exceptions. Certain individuals in the world will never respond to pacifism, they will never ascend to the next level. They will always insist on violence, and in that, I feel violence is not only justified but necessary. But wanton declarations of war, reckless assaults on civilian life, and widespread attacks on a way of life, ethnicity, or racial group is uncalled for and pathetic. Whoever made the lovely quote about "sand niggers" or the like needs to open their fucking eyes and let go of the 60's. They're PEOPLE for fuck's sakes. And in the end, we all bleed just the same.

You tell me the last time thousands of Palestinians died from the same event in one hour's time and I will agree with you. I am a pessimist but I think you and everyone on this forum is going to shit their pants when the total dead from this are announced. Have you ever been to New York? Do you realize how large those buildings are? Do you know how many people work down there? If you are not from around here or haven't gotten accustomed to seeing the New York skyline then you aren't going to grasp the enormity of this -- those two buildings are GONE.
And I'm sure almost every one of the people in that building were civilians. They did nothing against these terrorists. I am not calling for the deaths of Arab civilians. I am commenting on how I am sickened by anyone celebrating this and telling you, not suggesting to you, that the Palestinians have never seen a catastrophe like this. Never. Yes they are oppressed, yes many have died. But no one has ever pulled this kind of shit that happened today on them. I don't think they understand what it would be like to lose, say 10,000 of their own in one, fell swoop.
