I'm not so sure I trust Bush to handle this. His speech left a lot to be desired.

thats a good question. this forum should provide a little insight on how impossible it is to change another human's mindset. acts such as this do nothing but terrorize innocent civilians and maybe make a terrorist group feel important. nothing more. it will not create any sympathy towards the responsible party's cause.

His mind is focused on solutions, not appeasing the public right now.

I actually work at the Boston airport (Logan Int'l), on my way in as we speak. We've had approx. 18 FAA Urgent Advisories regarding civil air security in the last week, and while I can't reveal the specifics from them, I can say that the FAA was not as surprised by this as they may claim. And they have been trying to tighten down security, they're just bound with red tape with every step.
I'm just thankful that it wasn't one of my planes. I really can't imagine a more horrible feeling, outside of being the pilot on the plane itself. I do Ground Security work, in addition to ground services supervising, and we're basically the last line of defense before a plane gets off the ground. I dunno...
I'll try and keep you guys updated with the real "scoop" though, we usually hear the news well before CNN gets it out.

I'll say this again--the Naval bases here started recalling officers/soldiers yesterday.

Agreed... I don't have much faith in him, but I do in Cheney, Powell, and other leaders. He'll be told what the proper course of action is, and he'll follow it.

So basically we knew about the threats and could do nothing about it...that is even scarier than not knowing about them.

An AWACS and F-16's are on patrol right now above Barksdale. You can see the fighters making wide passes every couple of minutes while the AWACS circles directly over the base. I think Bush is about to take off.

Axiom,

the age innocence needs to be over. find out why. Learn about the people who hate us and want to destroy us. We are a great nation but have often been too lazy and too insular for our own good. Let us all throw off our blinders and pledge to make sure that this never has a chance to happen again.

Bush's strength is that he surrounds himself with the most capable people and he has an uncanny ability to hone in on the most brillinat course of action suggested by his advisors. He's not a genious. He has this one gift. I am counting on him to use this gift and steer this country.

25 pages into the thread. I don't think I'll be able to read all the back stuff. I just want to add my own 'omfg' and prayers that as many people got out of those buildings as possible.

I can't believe they're gone (the people AND the buildings...thank god the statue of liberty is still standing...granted, I would rather the planes have hit the statue (less loss of life) but I'm glad they didn't ice the cake by taking the statue out in addition).

Fucking Deus Ex.

Because America is the most feared and hated nation in the world. We give Israel billions of dollars and all sorts of weapons and planes every year, which they use to kill hundreds and thousands of Palestinians.

I'm not going to school today because when I woke up this morning to my Mom telling me that terrorists had destroyed the World TradeCenter and bombded the Pentagon....well, I didn't really wanna be in a government owned building. All the schools on the big island are closed today but the schools on Maui(where I live) and Oahu are still open. This is devastating and watching the footage on tv is like watching something out of a movie. I thought I was dreaming or some shit. Everyone pray for those people.

P.S. Not sure if it was mentioned, there was ANOTHER plane they found outside of Pittsburgh that crashed, killing everyone inside, who knows where that one was headed.

P.S.S. The fucken Pakastanians were CELEBRATING in the streets after the attacks.
