My guess is that they did most of if by access of the maintanence crew or impercinating them... think about how much easier that is than walking through the main gates...

As far as the computer Data they've had backup in alternate locations since y2k I've known that much but I don't think they would have had that fast of back up for explosions is what I'm thinking.

Well, that was the intended purpose. They intended this to bring down the towers and I was amazed they stood up that long after taking impacts of that magnitude from aircrat that were fully loaded with fuel.

In a war, choices must be made. Someone redicules the idea of combat air patrols with orders to shoot down an airliner, thinking that people won't fly if they know this might happen. This is malarkey, of course they will. first, with the other measures, it is remote that this will ever happen again, so people will just shrug and say "it won't happen to me." Second, I doubt if they will make a big deal of this measure, since it would tend to frighten people. But let's face it, a few hundred people against thousands? I know that if I am on a plane, and it is hijacked, I will do whatever I can to prevent that, even if it causes the my death and the death of my family.

I was just in shock when they went down. I had no idea that they would crumble like that, or just did not recognize it.

I actually work at the Boston airport (Logan Int'l), on my way in as we speak. We've had approx. 18 FAA Urgent Advisories regarding civil air security in the last week, and while I can't reveal the specifics from them, I can say that the FAA was not as surprised by this as they may claim. And they have been trying to tighten down security, they're just bound with red tape with every step.
I'm just thankful that it wasn't one of my planes. I really can't imagine a more horrible feeling, outside of being the pilot on the plane itself. I do Ground Security work, in addition to ground services supervising, and we're basically the last line of defense before a plane gets off the ground. I dunno...
I'll try and keep you guys updated with the real "scoop" though, we usually hear the news well before CNN gets it out.

Agreed. Obviously it was the terrorists' intention but it's still hard to comprehend that the towers are gone. Hell, it's hard to comprehend any of this.

The problem is the people on that plane had no way of knowing why it was hijacked. They may have thought there was a chance of survival for them. Those passengers may have been killed immediately. Whoever managed to hijack that many planes simultaneously and coordinate this attack was well trained. This was thouroughly planned out and timed. I doubt they allowed the passengers and crew to live for long.

WHY? WHY???

Maintenance doesn't fly on planes. It is possible, in theory, to have an accomplice in ground services get you to the boarding gate without going through security, but any halfway competent gate agent would be very suspicious of this, even if they knew the ground crew member. This was a failure of preboard screening, plain and simple. I don't yet know -what- got through the checkpoint, but obviously something did...

Wel concidering you would have thousands of pounds of aviation fuel burning in side the tower weakening the structure. Concrete crumbles under intense heat, girders will start to melt. And the bases of the towers would be weakened by the impacts as well.

The towers were almost cut in half and it was only a mattrer of time before the tops came down and took the rest of the towers with them.

They knew exactly what they were doing and I will virtually guarantee that there is some country behind this. it takes that level of coordination, information, money and support to pull it off.

Certain terrorist organizations have more power than countries, although at this point it is impossible to speculate. It could have been anyone and I know they will all be punished.
