1 lb. ground beef or turkey
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup with 1/4 can milk (Campbell's cream of mushroom works best)
1 c. sour cream
3-4 cloves minced garlic
Salt and pepper to taste

Brown ground beef (or turkey) and onion. Add seasonings and soup with milk. Simmer 20 minutes. Stir frequently. Add sour cream and heat through. Serve over noodles.

I have used egg noodles (better) or macaroni. I usually do this with turkey so I don't have to drain the meat. This is totally a comfort food!

I've found an interesting ingredient that really makes Stroganolf better.

Brandy.

If you add 3T of brandy to the sauce and meat when you cook it, the sauce acquires a nice flavor and smooths out the texture.

Awesome! My dad used to make it this way. I completely forgot about that!

My problem is that I always wind up drinking the brandy :\

I make it with thinly sliced skirt steak and enjoy that quite a lot. Never tried with ground beef... Have to give it a whirl.

You can also toss it over white rice and that's just as good.
