the only reason people dont work out is they dont want to

it's as simple as that

say that with a wife and kids :P

if I could work out immediately after work or in the middle of the day it would be blissful

then again I've been on a 6 day a week schedule since mid july only missing a few days here or there (finished the p90 yesterday)

I start the p90x nov. 1st woot

do you mind if I ask how much your weight changed
for some reason i always put on weight in the winter and I want to change my program

i think everyone puts on a little weight in the winter

lack of outdoor activity + bulkier clothing (and layers) + holidays

winter running definitely helps with that though

I'm starting p90x just as soon as my dumbbells get here. Just in time too as I just moved from Florida to Minnesota. Not exactly awesome running in the freezing rain as compared to the clear skies down there.

People who say this are always obese and lazy. Your kids don't need undivided attention from both you and your wife 24/7. You can make it to the gym for 45 mins.

I dunno, that's not me. For the past 6 years I've always lost weight (bout ten pounds) but I'm a winter kind of person and get extremely lethargic in the summer unless you put a body of water in front of me.

Just a general question to everyone out there since I don't want to make a new thread about it:

I bought some new jeans and of course didn't try them on first because I figured they'd be about right. Well they're a little bit tight (probably 3/4 to 1.5 inches to small). So instead of returning them I've decided I'm going to drop about 10 pounds because I think that'd be a good target weight for me given my current strength and parameters, which here they are:

Medium Shirt/Jacket
Size 15.5 dress shirt
Pant legs to ankles=28 inches
overall height 5'10" (i've got short legs and a decent sized head)
weight 178-182 lbs
age: 18
body fat and weight in may: 20% and 181 pounds

as far as strength, it's been about 5 months since I've hit the gym but I have done some things to keep in shape but about 2 months ago I let go of everything except for pushups and added in about 6 hours of standing and 2-5 miles of walking a weekday on average

Mile run: 7:23 (let go in august)
mile endurance pr: 5 miles in 42 minutes
bicep curls: 65 (let go in may)
bench press: 125 (may)
pushups knees and nose to ground: 50 (current, started in june at 16 full pushups so this is definitely the only thing that has gotten better since summer)
Situps: 48 (august)
squat: 255 (may)

diet:

about 1700-2900 calories a day for the past two months, averaging closer to 2400 I'd say but has come down to about 2000 lately.
400-1000 calories in drinks a day (juices and ades with the occasional soda and very minor amounts of alcohol). I do drink about 16oz of water a day on average as of late.
I eat primarily breads and meats and potatoes.
I generally eat a small breakfast and two meals, very little to no snacking. lately I've been eating one meal at about 4pm though

Now what I'm wondering is if I hop onto my friends gym passes a 2-3 a week and concentrate on endurance type activities (primarily running and rowing for about an hour total), maybe throw some HIIT in there because I remember doing that back in spring and I cut a minute off my mile in 3 weeks with that, as well as some bicep curls and something for my back to help compliment the pushups I've managed to keep doing...

But if I cut my calories in drinking down to a strict 400 calories a day (won't cut it out all the way I can guarentee that but can certainly cut it down), eat 3-4 smaller meals a day, no one decently sized meal at any point but maxing out at about 600 calories for two meals (breakfast and late lunch) and then a smaller 300-400 calorie meal or maybe two on longer days/workout days, with each meal being a diversified mix of primarily bread and fruits with a little bit of meat in two of the meals (probably totaling 500 calories total), how successful do you think I'd be at completing 10 pounds in 30 days? Meals include me drinking the juice/ade I feel like having.

After dropping weight I'd also like to bulk up given that I'll be starting at a lower body fat level and should be able to see my gains more aptly to help keep myself going, and I intend to take up cross country skiing this winter, so I'll be advice regarding those things later, I just want your guys professional internet opinion on whether or not I can lose the weight with my given plan, be successful, and not stress my body too much over this.

I know I've written a lot but I'm in a huge transition period right now. I've changed my attitude towards a lot of things for the better in the short term and the long term (except for one thing but out of a dozen things that should go better I'll take that, especially given other benefits it enables) so I want to get started on dropping some unnecessary weight I've been planning on losing for ages. I was at 190 a year and 3 months ago, lost 10 and gained an inch, about 9 months ago, so I think it's time to lose another 10 or maybe even more if you guys think I should do that before I get started on my weight training program. Just give me any advice you can given what I've said and I'll take as much as it as I can do and to what makes sense for me. Generally though I want to stay out of the gym and use my body and gravity to get myself a workout as much as possible, and a healthier diet for the rest of it.
