Why would you use an old-ass 8-track to record anything? I could make a better recording of your band with pencil and paper.

Well my buddy has Pro-Tools but his music PC is borked. And even though he took classes on it in college he forgot how to use it.

Most studios I inhabit use tape over a pc to record.
Mixing is another story.

My wife works at a pro commercial studio. They're a protools shop.
Our friend just opened his new commercial place, which is a Nuendo shop.
I've recorded at Ultrasuede here in town, which is a Logic shop - but they have the capability to fly the recording to 2" 24-track and then into Logic to get that tape sound.
I don't know of any pro studios, or even amateur studios, still using tape. Tape is super expensive and doesn't edit easily. I mean, I used a Fostex 8-track back in the day - but that was 1994.

Yea, all the serious studios I've been in use ProTools HD Accel systems. Sometimes they'll mixdown to a Studer 2-track recorder (1/4" or 1/2" analog tape), but I don't know anyone who tracks to tape anymore.
