I was bored ... so I made a video of the coffee I am currently drinking and how good it is.

is coffee supposed to do that?

Real coffee ... yes.

Fresh roasted coffee, the right grind, the right temperatures, the right everything ... and the extraction produces those results.

And the taste? ... sweet, so silky sweet, no sugar necessary.

what kind of beans, machine, etc?

Arabica beans, supposedly the plantation was derived from ethiopian trees.

Grinder is a Rancillio Rocky, Espresso machine is a Racillio Silvia.

Rancillio is high end stuff - you must really love your morning cup

Silvia/Rocky is the bottom of the range Rancillio, in fact, its well below most super automatics (Jura, etc). The beauty of the Silvia is the mod capabilities (PID etc) which is why I bought it.

Once its out of warranty the PID will be installed and hooked up.

Until I have the money to buy a Marzocco.

Some people prefer something more than instant/plunger. If you don't then that's your perogative, but don't hate on people that appreciate coffee.

as far as the cost of the machines necessary to make a good home espresso, it's really a toss up whether you've got the money to spend on that kind of luxury. i probably will buy a home espresso machine at some point. prob not for awhile tho, esp since we have a perfectly good one at my restaurant.

what brand of beans?

i dunno what sense that makes

lots of people appreciate coffee without spending thousands of dollars on equipment designed to force water through it

if im hating on anything it's the idea that you have to do that to 'appreciate' coffee

"appreciate" is probably the wrong word, but you can't get the same product of a machine made espresso with conventional cheap manual mechanisms. it's like saying, "why spend thousands on a car when you could get a bike?" it's worth it to some people for the luxury of the convenience.

Now is probably a good time to poit out the rancillio rocky/Silvia combo can be aquired for under $1000us. Bang for buck it's the best combo on the market for those who love fresh espresso/latte/cappuccino/etc.

There is no better value way of pressure extracting coffee from ground beans, similarly no better value way of frothing milk. I can enjoy better than cafe quality coffee for less than a quarter of the cafe price any time I want.

Spend another $400 on a PID mod and you have a machine that rivals machines almost 10 times it's price. And it's certainly not in the thousands that giga is complaining about. If you prefer espresso then you have no choice but to spend the dollars on a good machine. If you are only concerned with you long "americano" the a plunger/drip etc is all you will ever need. But people who like espresso can't enjoy coffee without a machine to make them.

i realize this?

coffee is simpler to make, and makes more- that was my point
