Joemomma5000 09-28-2009, 11:45 AM EJ will give EPs for say tier bonuses, but what about weapon enchants etc? What is the PPM for Mongoose? Zerker? What about Icebreaker?
Is it better to use say
Loatheb's Shadow - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39257)
and get a guaranteed 670 AP for 20 seconds every 2 minutes, or use
Mirror of Truth - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40684)
because it's PPM is higher than 1?
Does such a site exist? Or is it literally just piecing small bits of data from all over the damn place?
AdreNaLiNe 09-28-2009, 11:50 AM Uhh, EJ has ALL of them. As a rogue, you have a combat AND mutilate spreadsheet...
And it gives you theoretical dps. If you say you've been on EJ, you can't have missed it. You're skimming and not actually doing any reading as the rogue discussion forums pretty much tell you everything in 3 threads. Pocket Guide to WotLK, Mavanas/Thaela's spreadsheet for mutilate, and Aldriana's Combat and mutilate spread sheet all model those trinkets.
they have them for dk's as well
It also depends on the encounter, obviously. Many encounters have a "burn phase" where having a on-use proc for a DPS trinket is very valuable.
AdreNaLiNe 09-28-2009, 01:09 PM On something like Northrend Beasts, I'd use trinkets and BF (orc rogue) regularly until late worms-> Icehowl phase.
Then I'd save the cooldowns and trinks for when he does the charge. Using it early and everytime it's up during swipes just knocks you away and wastes it. On-use trinkets and BF during the stunned Icehowl phase puts out some huge envenom/mutilate numbers. :)

I've downloaded several spreadsheets (my biggest issue with them is being mainly BiS and not having some of my pieces), but I just feel the information should be easier to get then it is currently. Pre BC someone would frequently update everything possible on EJ (and I mean everything possible), but the closest we have now is the pocketbook which while good, doesn't list everything, or even reasoning why behind things. You need to read 50-100 page threads to eventually find the information, which is frustrating.
I was really just looking for a site that would list say... every moderate to awesome loot drop, and give a rating for it, and break it down on why it's good for you (I like to know what the benefit to something is, not simply that it's 'better').
Something like this:
Items - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?items&filter=ub=4;gm=4;gb=1;wt= 32:114:21:96:117:103:119: 20:77;wtv=6.63:2.24:2.05: 1.69:1.59:1.46:1.33:1.1:1 )
with more info on where the rankings came from.
Like for example, I made a spreadsheet comparing the current shoulders/belt/boots I had with possible upgrades. I took all their stats, weighted them based on EJ's EP points and netted them to see where I ended up.
So then I end up doing mini math to get net values for items.
Loatheb's Shadow - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=39257)
84 crit, at 1.69 EP = 141.96
+
(670 ap at 1 EP ) = 670 / (120 seconds / 20 seconds buff = 6 ) for 111.67~
equalling 253.63 EP
vs.
Mirror of Truth - Item - World of Warcraft (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=40684)
84 crit at 1.69 EP = 141.96
+ (this is where it gets more fishy)
1000 ap = 1000 EP therefore with 35% crit, MH 1.4 sec speed (in lieu of factoring various instant attacks) , 10% chance of proc, 45 sec CD as per 3.2 Patch notes: .35 * .10 = 3.5% chance on hit to proc * 1.4 = ~5% per swing or once every 28 seconds (then cooling for 45) then we add the OH, at say 1.4 + instants which for combat there isn't any? for 1.4 = ~5% swing per OH
netting roughly 10%? so once every 14 seconds, this goes for 10 seconds, then dies for 45. So basically 10 seconds of every 70 seconds, or 7 seconds out of every 60 seconds, 14 out of 120.
1000 / (120 / 14 = 8.57) = 116.69
141.96 + 116.69
258.65 EP
And this is using outright scandalous math. But it looks like MoT is actually slightly better. I mean maybe adding in instant attacks drops the MH to 1.2 or 1.9? Maybe the RNG fucks you hardcore, who knows. It's been a long time since grade 9, so feel free to fix this.
The problem is that all this shit takes time, I was just hoping someone had done the work for me :\
PessimiStick 09-28-2009, 03:59 PM Add your gear to the spreadsheet, switch trinkets. Done.
(Mirror is better, if you were wondering)
Shoddy 09-28-2009, 04:55 PM The relative value of two items can be affected a great deal by your other gear of course, but also by such factors as fight length and buffs. In particular, if you run mostly 10s, you need to have realistic buff settings on your spreadsheet/Rawr/whatever to get realistic answers.
RedSpider 09-28-2009, 05:02 PM EJ has everything rogues need.
Lukeris 09-28-2009, 07:10 PM Where do I add items to the spreadsheet? I"m using OO and I haven't been able to find item lists in the document, but I don't really know where to look.
FalseMyrmidon 09-28-2009, 07:46 PM I like to think of using a spreadsheet as an idiot check.

Yeah I'm just getting into that now. It's like an entire additional layer to WoW; so much research and trial and error and trying to work different values in different ways. You can see how people get so caught up in this shit (I usually don't take it to the raiding level).
rawr Rawr - Home (http://www.codeplex.com/Rawr) is what you are looking for.

No, no it's not.
Rawr is completely fucking terrible for rogues.
As for adding items to the sheet, Format --> Sheet --> Unhide --> Gear

Thx
Terra 09-29-2009, 05:27 PM Rawr isn't always the best for some class/specs, but its okay for others.
For my two classes, I use the following at the moment:
Death Knight: Index of /zerack/dk_optimize (http://www.aftermathlb.com/zerack/dk_optimize/)
Hunter: Zeherah's Hunter DPS Analyzer (http://www.femaledwarf.com/)
