The Prowler 09-20-2009, 09:53 PM So I'm entering week 9 of my attempted come back at running and today I decided to go to the local outdoors store and try these things on. I don't know if it's just my feet or what but the best fitting size was digging in hard to the webbing (for lack of a better word) next to my pinky toe. Granted after years of wearing spikes and race flats that fit like a glove my toes are pretty mashed together. The sales guy said that the VFF's actually help correct and straighten your toes out over time.
I know a few of you guys run in these from time to time. Did they fit perfectly off the bat or did you have issues as well?
I never had any serious fit issues with mine. I don't think they really do anything to straighten your toes, just strengthen your whole foot.
Gizmo 09-21-2009, 12:36 AM It took me about a month to get completely used to them, but I love them now, and they come on and off with ease, but feel secure when I'm wearing them. I've got the ones with the strap over the top, I think its called the Sprint
old_skul 09-21-2009, 04:19 PM I guy I know has a pair and I saw him the other day while he was wearing them. It took everything I had to not point out that he looked like a total douchebag. He pointed out the hole he had in them from when he had fallen off his recumbent bike and all I could envision was some douche on a recumbent bike wearing these stupid toe shoes.
I don't care if they give you better balance or somehow help your toes. They look stupid as fuck.

People who wear them socially are weird. People who cycle in them are retarded. People who use them in a situation-appropriate manner (running, for example) are doing nothing wrong.
they look fucking stupid, but i imagine they're pretty comfortable

Yeah the gf burst out laughing when I showed her what they looked like. I really don't care though. I've been doing about half my mileage in race flats and the minimalist shoe has really helped get my mechanics back, even with how royally fucked up my left leg currently is. When I go back to my DS Trainers to give my feet a break is when I notice my IT band and other muscle tightness/imbalances.

I've wear mine just to hang out in sometimes. who cares?
Federere 09-29-2009, 09:46 AM Mine fit perfectly.

Behind your back, everyone is pointing and laughing at you. FFs are not socially acceptable, sorry.
i like the "barefoot" shoe thing, i would just like to find one that doesn't look completely fucking stupid but is reasonably priced

these don't look awful, but i've never spent more than $60 on a pair of shoes
sarbuze 10-09-2009, 03:25 PM Who cares what is "socially acceptable"? If they are comfortable, where them.
TheGhost 10-10-2009, 01:50 AM I run in some Asics "Gel Nimbus" or some shit, feel comfortable, and are really lightweight, I have no complaints. I'm not training for anything, other than to just stay in shape ;o
my exact shoe-

I bought VFFs in the summer and wore them fairly frequently just for walking around. I have pretty flat feet and had been wearing Asics Gel Kayano 15s on the recommendation of my father's girlfriend who is a pretty serious runner who also works at a running store. With only the casual wear of the VFFs, we've seen a noticeable reduction in my over-pronation. It's to the point that I no longer require stability shoes and have moved into a neutral shoe.
I'm starting to get into running now and plan on using the VFFs once I'm in better running condition and the weather turns warm again. They're just so comfortable and the gait when wearing them feels far more natural as opposed to the typical heel impact stride when wearing overly technical running shoes.
