anyone have good black bean soup recipes? i've never made soup before but i threw some things together and it turned out really well

2 bags black beans
ham steak
onion
celery
GOYA ham stock
GOYA con cilantro achiote (what is this? it's good.)
red pepper
olive oil
worchestire sauce

this is what i did:

soak the beans overnight. rinse and drain them in the morning.

sautee the onions and celery with olive oil. put these in the crock pot with the beans. pour water up so it barely covers the beans, onions, and celery.

throw the ham steak on the grill for a couple minutes on each side. chop it into cubes and throw it in the crock pot too.

add GOYA flavoring, worchestire sauce, olive oil, red pepper

you can actually do these things in any order.. i mean it's soup. you can also blend the beans to make a thicker soup!

i guess i'm new to the cooking forum and this is my first recipe.

achiote is a spice made from a seed, pretty prevalent in mexican food

I usually just toss black beans into a salad with corn, never really made soup with em tho. recipe sounds pretty interesting beans and ham are always a winner

one of my favorite meals of the year is a black eyed pea and ham stew with the family on new years. there's something absurdly satisfying about beans and ham.

next time - try adding some chipotle guacamole as a finisher to the soup
