Moebius 09-04-2009, 02:23 AM Can the energy drink habit.
Drink one cup of caffeinated green tea (any flavor, style, brand), 30 minutes before your workout. I've done this for years and a study has just come out saying it raises your endurance by 24% for cardiovascular and hypertrophy routines. Benefits are of course, the smaller dosages of caffeine (about 1/2 of what's in a cup of coffee and 5x less than most detrimental energy drinks), plus an array of antioxidants, nutrients and catechins to help prevent cardiovascular health defects and diminish cancerous cells.
When i'm in a ripped phase, I drink 2-3 cups hot or cold a day. The antioxidant epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) increases resting rate metabolism and stimulates fat-burning. IF, you don't like the taste, or don't have time to consistently brew mass amounts, they have Green Tea Extract tablets with all the benefits in a tiny, easy to swallow pill.
I'm sure some of you are aware of this, but for those who aren't try it. I despise any kind of energy boosting drink, because of added sugars, added chemicals and the negative impact it ultimately has on your body.
p.s. - If you're on any MAO (Monoamine oxidase inhibitors) for depression, mixing with caffeine can cause problems, especially leading to hypertension and metabolic syndrome!
CloroX 09-12-2009, 04:41 PM Those health benefits are impressive, but I just started NOxplode and I don't think I'll give this up any time soon. It's so much better than the weak boost caffeine used to give. Honestly, I feel like a fucking raging bull in the gym. The shittiest, no motivation day can turn into a great workout. I love this stuff. Now, I'm ready for the diatribe about why it's ruining my body, so fire away.
Moebius 09-12-2009, 07:10 PM Eh, no diatribe. I used an NO product when it first came out. Never really felt much of a different, fuller "pump" per sey. Now, I know NOXPlode has a lot of other supplements in it to coincide with the Nitric Oxide itself, amplifying it's effects. If you get good results with it, stick with it man. I get gains off of eating clean and good rest that would make a steroid user envious. That and I train properly with very unorthodox methods.

I had 24x7 diahrea
I got off for a month and am back up to 2 scoops a day
dweeb 09-15-2009, 03:58 PM Ok Moeb, I sub'd my coffee out for two packets of Lipton 100% green tea this morning and then just drank another cup with the same thing. About to head home and straight to the gym. We'll see if there's any difference (other than me being tired all day because I'm a caff addict... but I'm cutting it out :))
dweeb 09-16-2009, 01:14 PM Ok, I don't like the green tea taste but I think it's because I've been drinking coffee for so long and love it. I'm going to stick to green tea for at least a week and see where this goes. Hopefully I can develop a love for it, as I remember not being the biggest coffee fan in the world at the start.
I've slept better the last two nights than I ever did with coffee though. This could have been the problem.
Falhawk 09-16-2009, 01:48 PM I am having a cup of green tea right now.
Austforbeer 09-16-2009, 02:54 PM I make myself a small thermos of coffee before I leave for work. I end up gulping most of it just before the gym. I think it helps.
dweeb 09-16-2009, 03:19 PM The only enjoyable part of my experiment so far is that I get to teabag something at work.
dweeb 09-16-2009, 03:29 PM Ok I'm sipping this "Mixed Berry" flavored green tea and it isn't too bad :o
mich.morgan8@gmail.com 09-21-2009, 10:12 PM Green tea as a healthy alternative for coffee. Diseases that are believed to be prevented or improved in drinking green tea as your habit, include cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and cardiovascular disease. Drinking green tea is said to lower blood cholesterol levels and fight infections.
Green Tea has four important constituents that all work together, caffeine, tannin, essential oils and vitamins. And these are all very essential to our body.
Baby Bew 09-21-2009, 11:09 PM Hey mich.morgan8@gmail.com, where can I reach you if I have more questions about Green Tea?
Thanks for your help, mich.morgan8@gmail.com.
Austforbeer 09-22-2009, 09:16 AM I just cut the sugar out of my coffee before I work out. It's taking some getting used to but it's do able. Currently I use 1% milk and I'll probably cut that out next week. I use coffee as a tool, it's not an enjoyable drink.
Moebius 09-26-2009, 10:52 AM Substitute Stevia Powder for sugar in any coffee/tea drinks. Stevia is a natural derivative from a leaf member of the sunflower family. Just as sweet as sugar with negligible effect on blood glucose, meaning your insulin won't spike when you use it as it would with sugar. You can find stevia in the organic aisles of your G-store.
dweeb, how is your progression with the green tea? Can you feel any endurance boost when drinking it 25-30 prior to exercising? How about the rest of you guys? If you want a little flavor and don't want to go with Stevia, try adding a drizzle of honey in with a drop or two of lime juice to separate the honey.
green tea is overrated
its got lots of good stuff in it yep
but so do many other things
coffee for instance has many antioxidant properties but isn't in vogue as a healthy supplement right now
either of these compounds can be 'healthy' when used responsibly.

Coffee gives me grizzlyman shits. Tea doesn't.
