Phantred 09-01-2009, 06:07 PM or however you spell it...
What's the verdict on this stuff? Maybe I should have made this thread before I bought it, but I'm trying to solve two problems.
1. Getting to sleep after energy drink + workout. I generally workout sometime between 3 and 5 and I like to take an energy booster(caffeine) about 2 or 3 times a week. Can't fall asleep come bedtime though(midnight).
2. Staying asleep. My girlfriend wakes up every morning at 6 or 7 but I don't get up until 9. I have trouble falling back asleep if she accidentally wakes me up.
valerian root (capsule) is a good herb for sleep
x0lent 09-01-2009, 08:06 PM it is great. 3mg-6mg will suffice.
however, avoid taking it every day... you'll become dependent.
i take 5-6mg three to four days a week.
Phantred 09-01-2009, 08:13 PM what should I expect? knock me out like allergy medicine? hard to wake up in the morning?
x0lent 09-01-2009, 09:00 PM It will just make you sleepy and you'll go to bed. Don't expect it to knock you out instantly.
Occasionally, it is difficult to wake up in the morning but I seldom feel that way.
If you want really good sleep with vivid dreams... get some ZMA or GABA too. ;)
confidential 09-01-2009, 09:57 PM so you're done working out by 5, but can't fall asleep 7 hours later at midnight? wat

Yeah, I religiously avoid caffeine except when working out, and I try not to use it 2 days in a row.
Most people forget how much of an affect caffeine has on you due to a pretty good resistance. 2 months ago I could(and did) slam 6 monster energy drinks after a good nights sleep and took an afternoon nap.

I take ZMA. I literally wake up (sexually) attacking my gf. Pretty fucked up.
x0lent 09-01-2009, 10:25 PM I love ZMA... I feel so rested in the morning!
melatonin isn't strong enough to deal with caffeine.
plus you'll gain a tolerance so quickly i'm not sure just how useful you will find it but
give it a shot
I take an absurd amount on a nightly basis. i can't feel it anymore.
confidential 09-02-2009, 06:43 AM jeez
i'm glad i've never had any issues with sleeping, besides sleeping too much
I can't touch coffee after 11am or I'll pay that night. Even if you don't feel wired, your body is more awake.
Falhawk 09-02-2009, 10:02 AM I took melatonin for around a month or so and it really helped me
dweeb 09-02-2009, 10:08 AM Tylenol PM did the trick for me for a week or so.
Then I got used to it and started taking two-three a night. Wouldn't put me to bed and I'd wake up in a complete zombie-state.
Now, if I ever really want to get a good sleep, I pop a few 5-6 hours before I want to sleep.
Having a shitty sleeping cycle blows :(
try waking up 30 minutes earlier, it'll reset your sleep cycle
Phantred 09-02-2009, 05:38 PM last night was weird... I tried a new energy drink around 4:30, had no effect so I had my normal at 5. Took the melatonin at 10:30 and hit the sack at 11:30.
You know that weird feeling you get when you are at a loud party, and you go to the bathroom and all of a sudden it's quiet and you realize you're drunk, and you daze out staring at something on the wall...
I had that all night, felt like a didn't sleep at all, but I felt well rested all day.
Weird.
Thumper 09-02-2009, 10:06 PM I've tried that and any OTC sleep I can find but none seem to really work. I have terrible sleeping habits but I refuse to get a prescription for anything stronger.
I did find that my daily life has more of an effect on my sleep than anything else. I try to avoid any exercise past 6pm. I used to work out in the afternoons but when i switched to the mornings I had better workouts and I fell asleep faster.
x0lent 09-08-2009, 12:23 AM Sup Thumper. Long time no chat.
Thumper 09-08-2009, 09:18 AM Greetings xO! Long time indeed!
Dysc0rd 09-10-2009, 07:50 AM Melatonin gives me obsurdly vivid dreams most of the times I take it, and I don't get the groggy effect like I do if I take tylenol PM. It's a worthy investment for how little it costs.
Whoever said it makes you dependant is a retard as it's a naturally occuring hormone in your body produced by the brain.
