This is my idea, you know how games like DDR got a bunch of fatties to start jumping around and working out? It's the idea that if someone is having fun they won't mind exercising-- kind of like playing a sport casually.
So my idea for a gym is that all the equipment is specialized, you have a personalized key card you use whenever you use any of the equipment. When you work out it builds up different stats on a virtual avatar. Like if you work out your legs it would build your agility, if you work out your upper body it would up your strength, and if you run a treadmill or a bike it would up your stamina. Also, every piece of equipment is hooked up to an LCD display, and you'd have a view of your dude fighting monsters or something. When you finish your workout they can drop loot too, so you grind for gear in real life.
I guess you can then battle other people at the gym or something, I'm not sure where it would go after that. I would just have blizzard handle all the game front end so it would be addicting.
I suppose what's interesting about it is if it really was addicting as world of warcraft it'd be far more likely to be harmful or fatal to some people. So yea, it's 4 am and I can't sleep.
